If only the Republican youth would be like their conservative German counterparts--but they won't
The youth arm of the CSU of Bavaria, the most conservative part of Germany, has openly called for the resignation of their party leader. The CSU is the Bavarian sister party of Merkel's CDU. Their party leader, Horst Seehofer, is also the "Ministerpräsident (equivalent of a Governor)" of Bavaria. They just had their poorest showing ever in the last election. The CSU is usually the most conservative and right wing dead weight on the more moderate national CDU.
The Junge Union is vaguely like our Youung Republicans, or the Young Americans for Freedom (YAF), except that the Junge Union (JU) really IS for freedom. Our YAF is more aptly described as Young Assholes for Fascism. The JU put out a statement saying, "For success in the local elections next year, a credible new beginning in our personnel is needed." They meant that Seehofer should go, and made no effort to disguise that fact.
From an article in Düsseldorf's Rheinische Post from Monday:
"Seehofer stayed away from the State's (i.e. Bavaria's) state JU convention in Erlangen. However, he criticized in (another newspaper) 'the unterrupted wave of machine gun fire' directed at his person. Seehofer's biggest rival, Bavaria's Treasury Secretary Markus Söder, praised the JU openly. 'I have great respect for the courage you have," he said. 'Well done!'"

But the young Republicans have no conventions saying the things that McCain, Corker and Flake are saying. For that matter, if they were running for re-election, McCain, Corker and Flake wouldn't be saying the things they are saying, either. Remember all those cartoons with donkeys (Democrats) seeing a spine and running in terror, asking what it was? Well, you can now substitute elephants.
Now that it's THEIR bull in the china shop, Republicans have suddenly discovered that they have no use for china any more.
