1. This is what happens when you turn out and vote instead of watching television
2. In VA, the biggest decider was northern VA college professionals, yes, white ones at that, turning dem. And I believe that has everything to do with *Tangerine Idi Amin [credit to showercap) attacks on federal workers and retirees. Virtually every burb where federal institutions and contractors are resident went overwhelmingly Dem. That may just have a lot more to do with it than the progressives clapping their backs and congratulating themselves.

So the lesson is , as Bill Clinton noted years ago , it is (still) the economy stupid. I think it would be a mistake to take this as a green-light to campaign on Sanctuary Cities and all that. I believe they still are net losers with respect to state-wide elections.

We need those same voters next year too.

Awesome results tonight, but we still have a lot of work to get ready for next year.
