Keurig Coffee Makers pulled their Hannity ads because of Roy Moore support by Hannity.
so Hannity fans are smashing their Keurig coffee makers and sending Hannity pics of what they did.
I saw it mentioned on Twitter and went to Google, lots of news about it came up.
I don't know how much those makers cost, but I hope they don't start boycotting cars.

EDIT: I just tweeted to some jerk on Twitter about how much a poor person could have used the Keurig he just smashed and how The Salvation Army GoodWill and other church thrift shops would have loved to have that on their shelves.

(115,858 posts)You're supposed to stop buying things from a vendor or manufacturer whose actions you don't approve of. Destroying things you have already bought doesn't hurt anybody but you. You smashed your Keurig in a fit of pique so now you don't have a coffee maker and you have to go out and buy another one - not a Keurig, but you still have to spend money on a coffee maker. Idiots.
By the way, Ford has also pulled its ads from Hannity's show, so are these knuckledraggers going to bust up their Ford pickups, too?

(823 posts)makes more sense...and cents to do this. I drink 10 or more cups a day and really hate old coffee (but I have had bad cups of coffee in places where any coffee will do) and find the control of one cup at a time, as strong as I want, to be a great thing.

(3,765 posts)I use a Merlita coffee cone and a Pyrex measuring cup. It's a single cup coffee maker that costs less than $4.00. Keirig coffee makers are a gigantic waste of money and counter space.

(3,765 posts)Since I don't drink coffee. But my husband likes it. I would guess the same as Keurig with the reusable cup, they are both pour over coffee makers. You also have to buy coffee filters. There is a size that specifically fits this but they are more expensive. I just use the 12 cup basket size ( $2 for 200). You can get the Merlita at Bed Bath and Beyond for $3.99.

(823 posts)and found it wasteful and time consuming. Keurig uses a system where hot water is forced through the cup of grounds, some what like a french press, but much less mess. A personal choice on my part. I like that the Keurig is always ready to produce a cup of coffee and I don't need to worry about heating water separately. I bought the less expensive Keurig with the water tank on the side and have been very happy with it. The only draw back for me is the small amount of sediment left at the bottom of the cup, but I know its there and simply leave a tablespoon of undrunk coffee at the bottom of each cup. I do not use the K-cups because they are ridiculously expensive and incredibly waste generative.

(47,423 posts)I drink about 4 cups regular and then a couple of cups of decaf a day.
I don't smoke or drink, so it is my only indulgence.
You make a good point about a fresh cup of coffee each time.
I do miss the smell of brewing with Keurig, that seems part of the coffee experience.
I also don't like the plastic containers the Keurig coffee comes in.
I wonder about the possible effects of drinking plastic every day.
Thanks for the tip!

(47,423 posts)Will try it tomorrow am. Will fill it tonight.
So the Keurig doesn't get smashed quite yet.
I then can try the other suggestion, the cone.

In one storyline he led a book and record burning so he and his followers went to the local record store to buy some salacious material with Otis asking the clerk about Blondie - something like...
Otis: Ah, Blondie. Is she laden with moral turpitude?
Clerk: Moral...?
Otis: Turpitude. Is she laden with it?
Clerk: I don't know, man, but she is one wicked chick!
Otis: Super! We'll take 30 dozen!

(10,279 posts)containers with 1 single dose of coffee. The machine uses each one of them once, and then it is off to the dump. Solid waste managers hate them. They are filling our dumps with plastic that will take hundreds of years to deteriorate. So, we should thank the Hannity fans for destroying their Keurig Coffee Makers -- and the environment thanks them, also.
exboyfil
(17,865 posts)They make their money on the containers.
You would think they would come up with an environmentally friendly option. I guess they did it is called a glass jar and a spoon. I don't drink coffee so I don't know how much better the Keurig is. We have two at work that seem to be down for extended periods.
Zambero
(8,968 posts)You fill them with coffee, pop the top on, brew, empty the grounds when done, then re-use again. Been using them for a couple of years and it's also great because you get to choose the coffee grind, not the manufacturer. Cheaper too.
NCjack
(10,279 posts)But, if you use the disposable ones, you are part of the solid waste problem. And, those who destroy their perfectly functioning Keurig machines instead of switching to the "green" containers, you are fools. (Zambero: thanks for your comment.)

(6,324 posts)Still have it at the office.
It was inexpensive then and the cost compared to e Keurig to make a cup is pennies. Only thing you have to do is clean the little stainless filter basket between cups instead of just throwing away the plastic- but im not that lazy that I cant do that.

(34,137 posts)I have two single serve coffee makers - a Hamilton-Beach and a Proctor Silex. Each can make a single cup of coffee with straight grounds. The Proctor-Silex can use single serve Keurig type cups, but the attachment for that has never seen the inside of the machine. Neither use paper filters - they have re-usable mesh filters.
Some friends have Keurig and have offered me coffee from theirs. I always turn it down. The waste offends me.
Zambero
(8,968 posts)See above post.
csziggy
(34,137 posts)Each of them just has a scoop to be filled, nothing fancy, easy to do even when I am one handed.
The only reason I have two is that for a while the Hamilton-Beach refused to sense that there was water in the machine. I soaked it in vinegar, left it for several months and my husband messed with it last week as a last effort and got it going again.
But while the H-B was on strike, the Proctor-Silex was the only single serve that met my needs available locally. It's OK but not as easy to use as the H-B.
I also have a twelve cup H-B BrewStation that holds coffee in a vat and keeps it warm for two hours. That is the machine I use when I have guests. But it doesn't like making less than five cups - far more than I need in a day.

(25,899 posts)way to make coffee. I think I read that it works out to about seventy dollars a pound. Maybe more.
I find Maxwell House Instant makes a highly acceptable coffee, and it probably works out to ten cents per cup.

(68,689 posts)I have a high end espresso maker ...also makes regular coffee for a small office since my family shares my coffee addiction. The other espresso makers kept breaking- got this after a person returned it at a great price and love it. I don't like Keurig because of the waste with the little tiny cups. I had a keurig at one time with the carafe so I could make coffee for guests. But it broke and the new ones would only use Keurig landfill clogging plastic cups. I had been able to use the green ones with the previous model. It is not a cheap machine though. These asshats are demonstrating their support for child rape as is Hannity. It is truly unbelieveable.
