(26,757 posts)As I understand it... they can't get rid of the ACA financial support, they can only get rid of the requirement that you purchase insurance and the (fine/tax charged if you don't sign up).
Wouldn't that mean that the only people who lost their insurance would be people who didn't want it?

(5,914 posts)The mandates increased the amount of money available to pay for the care that came up for everyone, including people who hadn't been to the doctor in years and came in to the system with significant health problems.
When the mandate goes, so does that funding. Insurance companies will skyrocket their rates to compensate, people will drop out and start going to the ER again for all of their care, and YOU, my friend will pay dearly for all that.

(26,757 posts)They can say that they're just giving people a choice.
and YOU, my friend will pay dearly for all that.
Probably not. I've had the same insurance through my employer for decades... but I see your point.

(5,914 posts)Which will, of course, be passed on to you.
Make no mistake about it, the health care travesties ALONE in this bill will screw us all over full sore. People forget that there were a LOT of reasons that the ACA was passed, and it wasn't because "poor people just want free stuff".

(26,757 posts)Again... I get it in the general case, but we didn't have many healthy young employees that weren't in the insurance plan because if you were healthy and could prove it (annual check with a nurse), you actually had a negative premium (right... we pay you to be in the plan).

Choices, choices. What's a bill writer to do?

(25,111 posts)Take that amount away which would uninsured approx. 10 - 13 million more people. I see that I helped pay for Paul's recent doctor's visits from the assault, and all I have to say is FUCK YOU.

(61,697 posts)I suppose trump asked a R to do it, not realizing it would turn into a poison pill. But the mandate amendment is brilliant! It'll tear them apart, hopefully.

(30,613 posts)But hey, he will have fellow Greedy Old Perverts who will only support it without the repeal. So it's all good.
