By comparison the USs own super sub is armed with 24 ICMBs, but the missile range is more than a 1,000 miles shorter.
The Borei II-class sub was unveiled in a ceremony in northern Russia on November 17, attended by the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Vladimir Korolyov, and a host of top-ranking diplomats.
The submarine was laid down in July 2012 and is expected to be delivered to the Russian Navy next year.

Russia plans to build a total of eight super subs by 2025 as it boosts its naval firepower amid growing international tensions.
The news comes after Putin called on major Russian businesses to be ready to help the military as he praised Moscows economy.
He said: The ability of our economy to increase military production and services at a given time is one of the most important aspects of military security.

"In comparison to the Borei-class, Borei II-class submarines are fitted with four additional missile tubes, boast smaller hulls and cons, and feature improved acoustics and lower sound levels, next to a number of other technical improvements. Both variants of Borei-class subs will be armed with Bulava (RSM-56) intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). The Borei-class will be capable of carrying up to 16 Bulava ICBMs, whereas the improved Borei II-class can carry up to 20 ballistic missiles.
The improved variant of the Borei-class will be capable of launching 96-200 hypersonic, independently maneuverable warheads, yielding 100-150 kilotons apiece. There are currently three Borei-class subs active in the Russian Navy: The Alexander Nevsky and the Vladimir Monomakh are both serving in Russias Pacific Fleet, whereas the Yuri Dolgoruky, serves in in the countrys Northern Fleet."

(2,050 posts)Little man syndrome, I just read that he was thinking of stepping down from power, sure he is.....
It won't matter how many subs he puts out there, more than one mushroom over a city is a waste and there's already enough weapons to accomplish that, notice he called on businesses to help fund the new subs.
Skimming right off the top to get richer, my hope is that some spare polonium accidentally gets into his tea somehow.
It's time for him to die painfully and slowly.
Right after dumpf is taken out.

(19,624 posts)I give Putin credit for not being at all thin skinned.
He is the kind who will laugh at your joke, and afterwards make a plan to get rid of you. He won't go off on twitter, he does things quietly.
And between Putin and us stands a spoiled toddler.
