Time's "Person of the Year" should be "Women"

Time has taken the tack in recent decades of naming a group as Person of the Year. Protestors, Peacemakers, You, and so on. It's a little bit of an easy out, but sometimes it's the appropriate thing for the zeitgeist.

From the women's march in January to the Me Too movement, this year has been about women resisting the Trump era. Hillary Clinton has started a dialogue about how we perceive and treat women who seek public office, and her campaign will be vindicated as the wrongdoing of Trump and Co. comes out.

And it would be a glorious FU to Trump.

Yes, a lot did. A lot didn't. A lot of us, white, black, brown, gay, straight, trans, gender fluid, etc. are fighting like mad for you. We're fighting out in the open and working like dogs to change things. You of course have a right to post anything you like but the overwhelming negativity is getting on my last nerve.

It was women of color who voted for HRC by a massive margin.

The same sort of breakdown will occur in Alabama.

The point is that it is really women of color who should be recognized (particularly African-American women).

Not divided by age or race or class or religion or region. We need the same rights and can contribute many of the same things. Keep shaming or excluding or dismissing and you do the right’s work for them.

On edit: I’m being driven nuts by no apostrophes appearing in my subject lines.

But we should recognize that without non-white voters, the Republicans would dominate every election.

Many white women did not vote for Donald Trump. Some white women, even in Alabama, will not vote for Roy Moore. So what's your point?

Are the ones to be lauded.

Without their votes, there would be no stopping continued Republican domination.

the criterion of "for better or for worse... has done the most to influence the events of the year"?

His agenda, no matter how much more is implemented this year, will have altered the lives of virtually everyone in America, and of hundreds of millions outside America.
