... There were 203,086 requests received by the bureaus National Instant Criminal Background Check System, according to USA Today.
The previous single-day records, both on Black Friday, were 185,713 last year and 185,345 in 2015.
Gun checks are not a measure of the actual number of guns sold. Multiple firearms can be purchased in a single transaction by the same buyer ...

(102,278 posts)I don't know where he is assigned (beyond DC) or to whom and scarcely know him. But I honestly have to wonder how he (and most) SS officers feel about the possibility of putting their life on the line for Trump--especially as he continually incites so many---puttting their own lives at risk as well.
I know Trump is clueless, but those who protect him are surely not and I can't imagine they are happy with more and more and more and more high powered semi-automatic rifles being sold.

(28,078 posts)the Trumps treat them like servants. Supposedly they were fond of the Clintons, Obamas and Bushes.

(78 posts)On one hand, cops tend not to vote Democrat and there has been recent literature about the Clintons in the news.
On the other hand, Trump is inflammatory and no doubt makes their job difficult.

(34,170 posts)It's no surprise that gun sales would be up as well.
Many decent handguns and rifles can be purchased between $500-1000 which makes them idea price points for presents to others and self.

I gave my MIL a handgun one Christmas and she loved it.
Why so judgy, Hoyt?
Why not give to an anti-gun group that wants to promote more restrictions. They (any of them) could definitely use the cash.

(54,770 posts)similar junk. They helped elect Trump and the GOPer Congress to protect their sick obsession.

(2,955 posts)Unless you live in a super progressive state, being anti-gun is generally a vote loser. Republicans just point to this kind of stuff and use it as ammo saying "See! I told you they want to ban our guns". If everyone would just shut up about gun control we'd probably see more democrats elected, AND less guns sold. Whenever people start talking gun control the gun sale numbers go through the roof.

(54,770 posts)are a gun toting, gun promoting, gun profiteer.
Any Democrat, who has a gun or two, isn't going to vote for a GOPer strictly over restrictions placed on a future gun purchase.
But the NRA, and non-members who support more guns in more places, want us to believe otherwise.

(7,299 posts)I thought that ok, you could be right, I don't agree with you but you could be right. But then when you said "If everyone would just shut up about gun control we'd probably see more democrats elected" I have to pipe in that unless you have something to back that up you are absolutely wrong, because as of Oct 2017 60% of Americans favor more gun control. http://news.gallup.com/poll/1645/guns.aspx

(49,445 posts)If the goal was to reduce the number of guns out there, it's not working. It is doing a great job of getting Republicans elected though.

(29,322 posts)Dogs decrease the odds of you being home invaded more probably because they don't know if you have a gun which is another thing for them to steal plus you could mistake your spouse or somebody for a home invader especially if they're so paranoid of home invaders.
