And you're correct. That would be prime-time fodder for a GOP opponent to use in negative ads.
When they "go low" and we "go high"... THEY WIN. Negativity always wins.

(30,481 posts)They won't drag it out now. It will only become a major issue if he threatens someone electorally at the national level. Not sure if he has the ability to do so but it seems clear he is trying to line it up.

Your response would still have been appropriate lol
Looking forward to everyone seeing a full exposure and compilation of his writings. In this current atmosphere of bringing sexual harassment to the forefront, it may not all be received in any positive manner.

(11,088 posts)Considering he is in no capacity whatsoever to affect those things: A US Senator is in the national government, not the state government.
R B Garr
(16,993 posts)Wouldn't those principles apply in Vermont?? I'm sure he knows people in state government he can convince??
Tiggeroshii
(11,088 posts)That he has inspired. Hopefully folks on the state level are motivated by his rhetoric. Either way that isnt his responsibility.
R B Garr
(16,993 posts)Okay then. Good to know he's not responsible and I'm sure he doesn't blame Democrats for things he cannot get done himself. Looking forward to his explanations about who is actually and realistically "responsible" for what. I'm sure it's in the book.

(11,088 posts)Surely you would have been outraged when you get accusations that hillary didnt do enough to prevent things outside of her control, but here you are making the same kind of republican acusations that they were throwing at Hillary.
R B Garr
(16,993 posts)criticizing Democrats for things he hasn't gotten done himself. Per your standards, is that a Republican accusation he's throwing at Democrats?? Weird, because the Russians sure used his attacks against our nominee, so it's all very confusing. Hmmm.

(59,506 posts)He was mayor of Burlington, then Congressman and then Senator. Not to mention, advocating for things that do not exist is pretty normal. Would you have said the same about Ted Kennedy, who in 2005 or 2006 sponsored a single payer bill that he knew would go nowhere - even though Massachusetts did not have single payer.
R B Garr
(16,993 posts)California, all based on his own versions of how to get things done. Yet he hasn't gotten it done himself. The people trying to oust Democrats aren't elected politicians in State government. Isn't the revolution based on convincing people? Why would Vermont get a pass on those tactics.

(67,782 posts)...of several Democrats who have won:
Hillary Clinton twice (1997 and 2004)
Jimmy Carter twice (2007 and 2016)
Bill Clinton (2005)
Barack Obama twice (2006 and 2008)
My pick is The Boss, or perhaps Carrie Fisher for sentimental reasons, .
