(57,322 posts)Griffin Sued By Trump On Resorts
By ANDREA ADELSON, Special to the New York Times

LOS ANGELES, March 18 Donald J. Trump, the real estate developer, filed a lawsuit today against Merv Griffin and also sued a dissident shareholder of Resorts International Inc., seeking to block the former talk show host's $35-a-share bid for the casino operator.
In his suit, filed in Federal District Court in New York, Mr. Trump is seeking $250 million in damages and is charging that Mr. Griffin's $225 million offer is fraudulent, violates securities laws and constitutes ''tortious interference'' with his own merger agreement with Resorts. Some analysts speculated that the Griffin move could end the Trump deal.

LOS ANGELES, April 14 Donald J. Trump, under pressure to accede to a deal that would benefit other shareholders of Resorts International Inc., dropped his opposition and agreed to sell his controlling interest in the Atlantic City hotel-casino company to Merv Griffin, the two men said today.

(57,322 posts)that Trump said wasn't worth what he paid Merv.
And that there was some sort of trade involved with the deal. His basic argument was that Merv had taken him and that he wasn't completing the transfer of property that was supposed to go to Merv. As I recall it in the end Trump ended up looking like a putz compared with Merv who got one over on Trump who hadn't done due diligence.
In the end it boomeranged to the point the Clinton Administration had to guarantee a billion dollars worth of Trump paper to keep Chase Bank from going under if Trump defaulted on his Chase debt if he went bankrupt in the mid-nineties.
Trump had a disastrous ten years in a market other people were making money in. The Clinton economy and credit guarantee saved Trumps ass. I never understood why Trump hated Hillary Clinton so much.
Then again, I might have imagined the whole thing. I think I got the most of that right, though.

(31,893 posts)on a pic of Warren? I suspect the latter, and I really despise that shit. It's totally dishonest.
And that's not to mention the erroneous grammar: the correct sentence construction is "...know how to run a casino better than HE."

(31,893 posts)Pasting that text on Senator Warren's picture implies attribution, as does the first part of the sentence: Trump calls me Pocahontas...

(272 posts)but it should be "envious" not "jealous." I'm not sure about "Indians." I'd have gone with "Native Americans" but have been told on occasion that that's also incorrect.

(14,732 posts)Perhaps we should just call them by their individual or tribal names or if referring to them as a group, the indigenous people of America.
