Give It a Rest, Guys

It’s said that one of the most uncomfortable feelings a human being can experience is being embarrassed for someone else; i.e. watching someone make a fool of themselves, completely unaware of just how foolish they so obviously are.

I have that feeling every time I watch Republican spokes-people on TV these days. I am embarrassed for them, as they ramble on about what a great “pResident” Trump is – all evidence overwhelmingly to the contrary.

Look, Republicans, we all know what a disaster Trump is – the whole world knows it, including you. I can’t imagine how many times you’ve literally smacked your own forehead when your “pResident” opens his mouth, knowing you’ll be facing the cameras to yet again explain away his ignorance, his pettiness, his blatant lies, and increasingly erratic behaviour.

Statements that used to cause people to simply roll their eyes now have us rolling in the aisles with laughter, as you stutter-and-stammer your way through the usual litany of excuses for a man who is so obviously incompetent – if not downright insane – even you don’t buy your own bullshit anymore.

“Well, you know, he’s different – that’s just the way he is” may sound like a reasonable comeback when you practice your shtick in front of the bathroom mirror – but it no longer comes close to making sense to anyone with an IQ above that of a houseplant.

Give it a rest, guys. Take a vacation from the daily humiliation of staring into the cameras, covered in flop-sweat, trying to convince thinking people that your non-thinking “pResident” is even capable of intelligent thought.

Give yourselves a break from trying to convince the populace that they don’t see what they see, and don’t hear what they hear. Stop wasting your breath on inane rhetoric about what a great job your “pResident” is doing, as we all sit here knowing we are that much closer to possible nuclear conflagration due to Trump’s ineptitude. Put an end to the ridiculous pretence that a man who calls Nazis and white supremacists “fine people”, mocks the disabled, and has openly admitted to sexual assault is worthy of respect.

Stop pretending that a “pResident” who spends his time watching TV, tweeting incomprehensible nonsense, and playing golf is working hard for the American people. Stop acting as though a “pResident” who is under investigation for colluding with our Russian enemies has the best interests of our country at heart.

Stop wasting your time (and ours) praising the Pussy-Grabber-in-Chief, a man so bereft of decency, he can’t get through a single day without insulting women, Mexicans, Muslims, Native Americans, blacks, Hispanics, gays and lesbians, and/or the disabled – a man so lacking in basic common sense, he actually believes we have invisible fighter jets that can’t be seen by the naked eye.

Don’t get me wrong. You can still enjoy the upcoming holidays, with visions of millions of Americans losing their healthcare, and tax-cuts for the wealthy dancing in your heads. You can still masturbate to the idea of Americans being hungry and homeless, immigrants being deported, and millions of your fellow citizens dying as a result of your “pResident’s” stupidity.

In the alternative, you can always limit your appearances to FOX-News, where the mindless swallow whatever bullshit you’re peddling, and will actually thank you for it.

But in keeping with the season of goodwill towards all men (deserving or not), I humbly suggest that you end the charade you play out every night in the media. No one is buying it, other than the mindless fools who still support the dumber-than-shit, lying racist you and your party placed in the Oval Office.

So give it a rest, guys. An entire nation is sick and tired of hearing the bullshit you spew in furtherance of defending a “pResident” who is not just merely incompetent, but is apparently incapable of demonstrating even a modicum of intelligence. His lies are too numerous to ignore, his stupidity is too obvious to dismiss, and his lack of basic human decency is too overwhelming to overlook.

In the spirit of the Christmas season and all it is meant to represent, I urge you to take some time away from your defence of the indefensible. It makes you look ridiculous, and it has zero effect on the fact that the “pResident” you are defending is unworthy of being defended by anyone.

Particularly given his weird behavior of the last few days. His performance in the Empty Chair Playhouse didn't actually get much applause.

More crackbrained, empty phrasemaking has never been tried nor heard.

Neither did Trump's wacky-old-grandpa imitation at the Code Talkers ceremony inspire confidence in his mental function.

Tipping point reached?

there is no reason for them to quit spewing bullshit - it's acceptable, and to many of the 20-25% of americans who get their news from radio that bullshit is real - merely because the left just lets it go.

We're all enthralled that someone with name recognition (rich, film/TV star, entrepreneur with $$$) is "behind" some progressive or liberal agenda.

Maybe I'm just starting to doubt all of this. Maybe they are well-paid bots. Maybe I'm just a minimally-paid worker.

Maybe this medium is not what it seems?

the planet doesn't have time to wait for liberal billionaires. and unless they could buy a lot of loud stations they'd be like air america -mom and pop vs wall mart.

and it's not needed. here are a few things people can do:

to start, dems and media and political scientists need to be encouraged to poll trump support for talk radio. too much analysis ignores the fact that this is actually the talk radio president and most of putin’s trolling piggybacked it. i’ll bet it shows the closest association outside of ‘white’, and that will help establish it as a major factor.

monitor it —  should be easier now to automate recording and transcribing the main rw talkers so people can search and study the patterns and repetition. if all of a sudden there’s a spike in, say the word ‘iran’ or ‘mueller’ or ‘deep state’, etc, it probably means something. knowing about it before  it becomes reality means not always having to play catch up.

credit it —  trump needs a RUSH tattoo on his forehead, as do all republican pols and media hacks. they all ride the talk radio bandwagon and feed from the daily smorgasbord of talking points and excuses. dems in media could accurately preface answers to republican media hacks and politicians with “that’s what limbaugh says but...”

investigate it —  how long has putin been using it? did they find a way to feed limbaugh and coordinate with him and others? are any of them being paid  freelance money? exposing the talk radio gods as tools, especially russian tools, would help. Trump guy Sam Nunberg analyzed 1000s of hrs of RW radio & reported to Trump in 2014. to coordinate with Russian ops?

‘thank’ all local businesses that advertise on RW radio stations —  thank them for trump, trumpcare, global warming, privatization of public education, voter suppression, deregulation, tax breaks for billionaires, etc. it’s easy and fun to listen to a few minutes here and there and get a few  email addresses for thank-you notes that can get to the boss/owners.=
protest it —   include the radio stations in any progressive protests —  they may  be better places to protest than capitols —  politicians and media will notice.

and to combine a few of those, push the 88 universities that endorse 257 limbaugh stations to stop crapping on their mission statements and start  looking for apolitical alternatives to broadcast sports on —  maybe their political science faculties and students can start studying the most dominant political factor in the US the last 30 years. people need to wonder why the unis should drop rw radio. it will start a discussion, gop will freak out, media will notice, and advertisers will flee.

It would break up the echo chambers on the right and the left.

People would be exposed to different information.

It would reduce the polarization of the country.

It would be difficult, but very helpful in restoring a working democracy.

and even here misguided free speech advocates (and trolls) poo poo the idea of even a new version of it.

imo it won't happen without supermajorities and that won't happen without an organized challenge on the rw radio monopoly/psyops.

If Rachel Maddie gets 10 minutes every 2 hours on Fox, Sean Hannity would get 10 minutes every two hours on MSNBC.

Nobody’s speech is being restricted, you just have to share the megaphone 📣

Fox News and MSNBC might not qualify because it was only applied to broadcasts over the airwaves back in the day.

However, it would include all major networks and radio.

it meant if the a radio station gave 3 hours to limbaugh the station manager would have to provide time if someone wanted to explain what limbaugh was lying about.

that was enough to make the current use of 1500 radio stations by billionaire think tanks, and putin, for selling the same lies all day
