https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/28/us/politics/trump-access-hollywood-tape.htmlIn recent months, they say, Mr. Trump has used closed-door conversations to question the authenticity of President Barack Obamas birth certificate. He has also repeatedly claimed that he lost the popular vote last year because of widespread voter fraud, according to advisers and lawmakers.
One senator who listened as the president revived his doubts about Mr. Obamas birth certificate chuckled on Tuesday as he recalled the conversation. The president, he said, has had a hard time letting go of his claim that Mr. Obama was not born in the United States. The senator asked not to be named to discuss private conversations.
Mr. Trumps journeys into the realm of manufactured facts have been frequent enough that his own staff has sought to nudge friendly lawmakers to ask questions of Mr. Trump in meetings that will steer him toward safer terrain.

(82,849 posts)The president is wrestling with reality and losing, his advisors are covering for him (not surprising) and other elected officials are chuckling about a delusional man in the Oval Office. One of the president's obsessions not mentioned in this snippet is his determination to use nuclear weapons.
On Nuke Day + 1, what is the Times going to report? "Gee, we knew this was a real possibility all along, but we just didn't think the rest of the world really needed to know all these details, so we protected our sources and had a good laugh with them."
Very reassuring. Fuckwits.
