Trevor Noah defending Trump on "Pocahontas"

So this is his takeaway from Trump's slur in front of Native Americans. Calling him "woke."

Proving, once again, why, since that hack took over, the Daily Show has lost all buzz it once had:

On Tuesday night, Trevor Noah took on the “Pocahontas” controversy and made a surprising conclusion.

The Daily Show host took on President Trump‘s “disrespectful” remarks at the White House ceremony honoring Native American code talkers when he made reference to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) using his nickname for her.

(…)

Noah concluded that while Trump “is racist,” but he’s hitting Warren for saying she’s Native American when she wasn’t, something he noted she “never apologized for or owned up to.”

“Elizabeth Warren did something problematic, the kind of thing we rightfully call each other out for every single day,” Noah continued. “So as weird as it is to say, in his own racially offensive way, Donald Trump was being woke. Yeah, and that’s unfortunately the truth.”

warren has no proof she's native american, but no one has any proof she isn't, either.

so it's a complete lie to just come out at say that warren is not and then to go on to fault her for not apologizing.

come on! i tell people i'm half ukrainian simply because my father's parents told me they were both born in the area now known as the ukraine. i also have zero proof of this, and now that they're long gone i can't even get them to testify on my behalf. so what! ffs!

talking about donnie's bigotry and insensitivity toward native americans and vets only in passing along the way to a bottom line of calling warren a shameless liar is absolutely ridiculous.

9. The problem I have with this story is that Senator Warren

could take a 70 buck DNA test which would show whether she has any Native American forebears. My suspicion is that she has taken it but doesn't have that connection, otherwise she would have released it and blown Trump's attack out of the water for good.

The issue I have with Noah's take on it, is that whether Warren has NA DNA or not, Trump went for another racially offensive slur, but Noah gave him a pass. If I said I had a g-g-g-grandmother who was black, is Noah giving Trump a pass if he called me the n word ?

Yes there are questions about Warren's story but it's the explicit racism from Trump that Noah is ignoring.

Donnie “honors” some native Americans by dredging up an old story about someone who isn’t involved in the ceremony at hand and whose only connection is that she may or may not have a common heritage with the honorees??

Also, those dna tests aren’t particularly accurate for broad racial/ethnic/regional categorizations, particularly if Warren is only claiming about 3% Native American heritage. Besides, it obviously cant detect things like adoption.

I haven't watched yet, but that doesn't sound like a serious statement. And I like Trevor Noah a lot better that Jon Stewart, btw.

If she'd done it to get a scholarship or something, he might have a point.

If she did it because she was told all her life that she had Native American ancestry, then she did what many of us who are pro-diversity would have done. Is she proud of having Native American ancestry? Well, why the hell not? I certainly would be.

Why should she apologize? Did she deliberately lie? Did she gain anything from it? It appears not. So, although I have warmed somewhat to Trevor Noah (he's still no Jon), Trump is certainly not woke. The idea is laughable.
