November 28, 2017 at 4:02 pm EST By Taegan Goddard
Ned Lamont (D) is gauging interest in a comeback bid for Connecticut governor, the Greenwich Time reports.
The Democratic insurgent who toppled Joe Lieberman in a Senate primary a decade ago but was ultimately thwarted by the incumbent in the general election is expected to hire a pollster to determine his gubernatorial prospects
Lamont, 63, said he plans to make a decison on whether to enter the wide open race by years end.

(4,960 posts)ran as an Independent and Republicans voted for him rather than their weak R candidate. That plus middle of the road right leaning Dems gave us the embarrassment of LIEberman as Senator. He ran and won and served as Selectman and on finance board in Greenwich for a number of years. Not sure what he never wins means since he hasnt really run other elections other than the primary against Malloy.

(68,582 posts)I hope he doesn't run...don't live in Connecticut anymore so I can vote but sure there are better candidates.

(4,960 posts)Many times. And we got stuck with LIEberman because of Rs and some conservative Dems. Lamont was a good candidate and if Joe had listened to Gore and not made his selfish bid for Senate, we might have had the progressive lowering of Medicare age as part of the ACA. So that to me was a big deal. But as I said before, there are many good candidates interested so far and I look forward to hearing all their positions. Thats whats great about having primaries and letting candidates work to win peoples votes.

(4,960 posts)primaried Joe and Ned won and then lost because Joe ran as an Independent and campaigned for R votes and with the help of right leaning Ds won. With that logic its no wonder Democrats keep losing elections. But interesting to hear your reasoning.
