Who Will Be Next?

Last edited Wed Nov 29, 2017, 01:07 PM - Edit history (1)

The Big Name Dudes (BNDs) are dropping like flies these days. There has to be a lot of flop-sweat and worry out there in fancy offices, boardrooms and penthouse executive suites. A bunch of guys trying like crazy to buy off victims before they can go public, too, I'm thinking.

I expect to see some surprise resignations in the corporate and governmental worlds very soon. Who will be announcing their own demise, and who will get named in tomorrow's headlines?

One thing's certain: There are plenty of men thinking back into their past and worrying plenty about their behavior and its consequences.

GOOD! Sweat it out, guys!

That is not sarcasm. Lead us forward, Sisters and Mothers.

If you want to cut out the infection, some good skin may need to be sacrificed to make sure you carve it all out.

For years, every little victory the thugs have had, real or perceived, has only emboldened them to do more/worse the next time around.

It was just a matter of time til this all caught up to them. Long past due, IMO. We should have had this level of concern and activism during the boy george era.

I’ve worked steadily for decades now and haven’t sexually harassed anyone. Haven’t assaulted anyone, made lewd suggestions to, certainly never jerked off into a plant.

I didn’t even know horticulturally-based masturbation was a thing, much less know it was an option. Who does that?

For fifteen years I’ve been only one of one-three men in a department with 25 women. I’ve been sexually harassed more than I’ve done harassing. (Jokes aside, one of my coworkers was harassed and punished, and I had to be a witness against my now-former boss. She was a good friend and I still feel bad about what she went through)

Occasionally I’ve had to say “I really don’t like being touched” or “can we not hug every day” or “can y’all stop talking about how big the pregnant coworker’s boobs are”

But I’ve never, ever had to go through what some of my female coworkers have had to endure.

FYI: you CAN have sexual relationships at work, although it’s not always smart. Make sure there’s no power imbalance. Take no for an answer. Let the other person take off their own pants first. Ask someone knowledgeable for advice, if needed.

Sometimes men think they live in some kind of bubble. We don’t. I married one of those 25 women I mentioned before, dated a couple of others, and am really close friends with a couple of others. If this is all too hard for you, try not being an asshole.
