Kellyanne Conway investigated by special counsel for allegedly breaking federal law

The US Office of Special Counsel will open a case file to address allegations that White House aide Kellyanne Conway breached federal law with her comments about the Alabama Senate race.

Walter Shaub, the ethics chiefs for former presidents George W Bush and Barack Obama, filed a complaint with the office last week alleging that Ms Conway violated the Hatch Act, a decades-old law that prohibits executive branch employees from using their government positions to campaign for or against political candidates.

In an email to Mr Shaub, Ana Galindo-Marrone, the chief of the Office of Special Counsel's Hatch Act Unit, said the office had opened a case file on the matter, as is the standard practice for such complaints.

Less Restricted Employees

Following the relaxation of limitations on participation in political activity, the majority of
individuals identified as 'employees' subject to the Hatch Act are considered 'less restricted
employees.' That is, these employees are subject to the standard rules provided by the Hatch
Act, whether by statute or regulation, and generally are permitted to 'take an active part in
political management or in political campaigns,' except for the general restrictions outlined
above.

Doubt it will be retroactive. However, she'll be free to campaign all she wants and whenever she wants. Criminals!!

so I haven't a clue, but did you notice how parsed my words carefully to create a little wiggle room for myself?

Apparently there just might be some ambiguous wiggle room

And if this is a bona fide loophole, you just know they will use it for all it's worth.
