seems that some people "in the biz" know what happened. One of the gals on The Real (?) mentioned that the Lauer thing came from "that thing that happened" in 2014. Something like that.
Page Six reports that it stems from a staffer that reported to HR that Lauer sexually harassed her during the Olympics in 2014. Page Six said that she had compelling evidence, as well as evidence that it happened to other women. The complainant has not asked for money, per her lawyer.
Interesting note: In divorce papers filed by his wife years ago, Lauer's wife cited "cruel and inhumane" behavior. She later withdrew that, they stayed married, but she lives elsewhere with the kids. (I'm guessing...just a guess...that they stayed married for the time being, for money and tax purposes.)
Wow. I wonder what evidence the staffer could have of the 2014 harassment. Security video? Oh...I bet some phone messages or texts or pics.

(37,648 posts)There was one specific thing that caused his firing. Then there are other things coming out (no pun intended). But the 2014 incident was the cause.
What I read said that she made an appt to go with her lawyer to NBC at 6 pm. They spent several hours going through the stories and evidence. At the end, NBC decided to fire Lauer summarily.
I wonder if she'd reported it back then? If not, why not? There could be good reasons. Just wondering.
Here's a link:
On Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer. It represented, after serious review, a clear violation of our companys standards. As a result, weve decided to terminate his employment, NBC News chairman Andrew Lack said in a memo to staff announcing Lauers firing Wednesday morning, read aloud on Today by Lauers co-anchor Savannah Guthrie. While it is the first complaint about his behavior in the over twenty years hes been at NBC News, we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident.

(37,648 posts)Matt Lauer was fired after alleged inappropriate sexual behavior throughout 2014, including at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, a source tells PEOPLE.
An NBC staffer filed a complaint Monday that was serious enough that he was terminated, the source explains. The accuser described inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace occurring throughout 2014.

(58,785 posts)One pleasantly smiling butt-pinching, demeaning lie after another to his audiences for, how many years was he there?
Now that attention is focused on gender injustices, this may the time for more people to realize that every hostile misogynistic attack on her when she ran for president was an attack on all women.
Attacks were far, far lower when she ran for senate and became SoS, both of which had had women before. And, no coincidence that without so many lies, her favorability ratings were quite high in both those positions.
Lauer was only of many smiling villains who became red in tooth and nail when she ran to be our first woman president.
Btw, we should be building new bridges right now. People earning min wage of $15/hour should be Christmas shopping at local businesses about now.

(37,648 posts)That makes perfect sense. Assigning her or others, coupled with the "Me, too" thing going on. She didn't go to the media. She went with her lawyer and her evidence to HR and hasn't, as yet, asked for money.
