the feeling. We wake up every morning wondering what in the hell the lunatic in the White House has done or said while we slept and whether we'll be at war before day's end. We wonder which minority, which of "the least among us", will be used and abused by Dear Leader to further his political agenda or as revenge for some slight, real or imagined.
We support Mueller's investigation, but DAMN!---we wish he could verify at least SOME of the crimes and virtual treason that we all "know" in our hearts have been committed by this arrogant sicko like SOON! We aren't sure our country, our democracy, our way of life, can survive much longer. We have called Congress. We have written letters to the editor. We have worn our "Not My President" shirts in our communities, often at risk of assault. Nothing has changed. So---
All this is prologue for a heartfelt appeal to our nation's moral thought leaders: call us into the streets; summon us to DC in numbers not seen before; "trigger" the release of all the pent up exasperation that is silently consuming our patience and our peace of mind.
If a like-minded group including, say, Steve Schmidt, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Matt Damon, Luis Guiterrez, Rachel Maddow, Gloria Steinem, Meryl Streep---you get the picture---were to collectively and publicly ask America to come to the Mall on ___ date, I believe the response would be immediate and overwhelming and I believe we just might force a change for the better. I think we could get over a million people to DC and millions more in major cities across the country.
We have the passion. We have the convictions. We need leaders and we need them now.
We need Trump gone.

(431 posts)I dont think there will be any change until professional republicans and his base turn on him. I dont see that happening. Everyone gathering at the mall would be a great optic and get a lot of attention but his supporters, along with Fox News will somehow diffuse the situation. Sorry if I sound like a cynic, it just seems as if nothing will stick to this guy.

(15,124 posts)can't, personally, go down that road. Mean people, greedy people, arrogant people---people like Trump---have always had the same effect on me: they piss me off. They may scare me and they may temporarily intimidate me, but I always come back to Pissed Off.
Let's put on our "Eastwood eyes" (or "Bette Davis" eyes), grit our teeth and find some place, according to our capabilities, to make a stand. We'll need to thicken our skin, sharpen our wits and maybe practice looking confident in our beliefs, but we don't have to roll over for these anal sphincters.

(431 posts)I didnt mean to sound like any effort is futile, Im just frustrated that the ones who have the power to evict this monstrosity are sitting in the burning building saying this is fine.
