I doubt I'm the only one to notice that Lauer's accuser came out Monday night and...

he was fired Tuesday.

Nobody seems to know what he did, but what could be so bad that he gets canned in a day without the usual investigation? Was he already in their sights for other things?

On another day, he summoned a different female employee to his office, and then dropped his pants, showing her his penis. After the employee declined to do anything, visibly shaken, he reprimanded her for not engaging in a sexual act.

If I wanted to pick up a coworker, calling them into my office and dropping my shorts just seems like a way to ensure they would not be interested

and shared their information. Vanity Fair had also been investigating numerous allegations. NBC statement from Andy Lack claims that this was first complaint against Lauer, however Lauer had long history of extremely inappropriate sexual harassment against subordinates. Seems that all of the victims were afraid of losing their jobs since Lauer held so much power at NBC.

Then, they're escorting you out the door.

could lock without getting up from his desk. That was an unusual tidbit among the usual reports of pants dropping and penis waving that these things usually involve.

An electronic lock activated from his desk. Naaaah. That doesn't seem suspicious at ALL! And sure, I believe that no one ever noticed the electronic lock and that it wasn't suspicious at all when it was installed.

Because there are so many reasons you might need to lock your door without the other person in the room knowing you are doing it. Lots and lots of reasons.

That I can't think of right now.

Hard to argue "it was consensual" when you lock them in your office secretly

I.e. The breaking news from one or more outlets, the only thing that could cause a dismissal this quickly would be incontrovertible proof in the form of video, audio, or a digital trail of messages on email or text. At my company, I had a complaint from an employee that's she was being harassed with obscene photographs that a male employee was trying to show her. The photos were found in his desk and I terminated him the next day.

A source told Page Six, “There’s at least one picture [sent to her by Matt] which was a major part of the evidence, which is why the firing came so quickly … my understanding was it was so damning that it was unquestionable whether or not he should be fired.

“I think everyone was a bit surprised how quickly this all turned around. No one expected his termination to happen that quickly. I believe the silver bullet was the photo and that was so damning that they had no other option but to fire him.
