The Insane King And His Courtiers.....

Our president is crazy. An honest to god, off the rails, out of touch, loony. He's always been a horse's ass, but this something very different. And to anyone spending any amount of time in close proximity to him, his lunacy has to be painfully obvious. But who surrounds him? His band of courtiers. Hangers on. A group of elitist louts who see Trump as their golden goose. Let him rant and rave and feed him the adulation he sorely needs and they can get whatever they want. They are insincere, skilled at flattery and intrigue, ambitious and lacking in regard for the national interest. His insanity is their opportunity. And we are at their mercy.

Meanwhile, our nation is weakened. Our relationships with our allies strained. The fabric that holds us together as a nation tattered and torn. A dividend return beyond Putin's wildest expectations when he decided to interfere in our political affairs. Could he ever have foreseen that we would willingly do to ourselves what was otherwise beyond his power? Trump, our very own version of Louis XVI, colluding with the invaders and delivering damaging blows to the country while declaring his mission to Make America Great Again.

While this all plays out, we are in dangerous territory. Trump's enablers are looting the country and looking to permanently rig our system to their advantage. They're in a race with Mueller's investigation, which is the only credible threat to their plans. All they have to do is keep the crazed king in power long enough to pull off their caper. And what does it cost them? All they really need to invest is the effort to keep telling Trump he's the best ever, the greatest ever, the biggest most stupendous...you get the picture. Well that and their souls-if they actually have them. Feed his ego and they get whatever they want.

So as faint signs of alarm leak from the White House there is some hope. Trump's behavior is telling. His calumny and vitriol increasing in direct proportion to the pressure he's feeling. As the noose tightens on the Russia investigation we move closer to salvation but at the risk of Trump growing increasingly unstable with every revelation that the special prosecutor is piecing together the elements of Trump's treachery. And as time ticks by, his courtiers are stuffing their pockets with whatever they can grab-they're probably taking the White House silverware right now.

We need to do whatever we can now-before its too late. We've faced tough times before. From the Boston Tea Party to the Suffrage Movement, to the Civil Rights protests, to the Anti-War effort to Earth Day to the Women's March-there's power in standing up for what is right. We're going to need that power to save the country, particularly if the Mueller investigation turns up wrongdoing at the highest level. Our version of Louis XVI and his crew aren't going to just walk away quietly. The real question is if we have the strength as a nation to stand up one more time. Nobody else is going to do it for us.

we need to prove we deserve democracy. It's really how a nation gains it's strength. It's not the size of the army or the number of bombs, it's the measure of it's people.

Yes it is. We are just the supporting cast. A country full of guys wearing red shirts from Star Trek. Get rid of us before the first commercial.
