BY JOE CONCHA - 11/30/17 08:52 AM EST
MSNBC's "Morning Joe" hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski declared early Thursday that they "are not intimidated" by President Trump after he tweeted out a conspiracy theory around the death of a young female staffer in Scarborough's office while his was a Florida GOP congressman in 2001.
Ill speak for Joe and myself here because Joe has stated that responding to President Trumps tweets are a waste of his time," said Brzezinski, who became engaged to Scarborough in May. "The president crossed another deeply disturbing line. With his attack on Joe, the chief law enforcement officer of the United States of America advanced a false conspiracy theory to intimidate the press and cause a chilling effect on the First Amendment."
"Joe and I are not intimidated and his bizarre behavior contravenes both the Constitution and basic moral judgment," she continued. "This is all we are going to be saying on the matter. We continue to focus on more pressing issues like the nuclear conflict with North Korea. And we hope the president will do the same.
Scarborough on Wednesday labeled tweets from Trump, including one that appeared to be a call for an investigation into a dead staffer found in the former GOP congressman's office in 2001, as "bizarre."

(45,488 posts)From Huffpost back in July:
A few days later, CNN reported that MSNBC officials were concerned about Scarboroughs friendship with Trump and his increasingly favorable coverage of the candidate. According to CNN, MSNBC insiders called Scarboroughs admiration for Trump over the top and unseemly. The Washington Post observed that Trump received a tremendous degree of warmth from the show, and that his appearances on the show, in person and over the phone, often felt like a cozy social club.
That coziness was caught on tape during an MSNBC town hall with Trump in New York that Scarborough and Brzezinski hosted in February 2016. An unaired clip of banter between Brzezinski and Trump in-between segments revealed the two of them colluding about what questions shed ask him. Nothing too hard, Mika, Trump says. OK, she responded.
Even after Trumps most disgusting and troublesome traits were revealed to the entire country throughout the campaign his abuse of women, his attacks on Latinos, immigrants, Muslims, and people with disabilities, his profound ignorance of basic issues and government policy, and the corruption and scandals surrounding Trump University and the Trump foundation Scarborough (and to a lesser extent Brzezinski) continued to lend Trump their support.

(7,432 posts)They saw Trumpy as nothing but a clown show, a parody of national politics.
Now they're "not intimidated" by what they helped unleash on the nation. So they're now doing "Round Two" of "Bring in the Bucks" by creating and raising dramatic tension between themselves and The Mad Hatter.
Joe Scar is a carnival barker on a sterile stage. Mika had plenty of opportunity to distinguish herself as a person in her own right, but has repeatedly failed to do so.
Their FIRST obligation is to maintain viewership, and to maintain their ad rates. This is for-profit infotainment. Nothing is sacrificed for journalistic integrity.
