The only time I've ever felt so hopeless and helpless was...

the day my father died.

I've called, tweeted, posted, and had one-on-one conversations about this horrific tax bill. Many of my friends don't understand why I care - I'll probably not be personally hurt all that much. Is it so hard to understand that I want my neighbors, near and far, to be whole and healthy, too?

what happens in government. Many feel powerless, so they just coast along in the ruts of life. It's just all out of mind, out of sight. The US is ripe for a major fall.

It's empathy vs apathy.

Your empathy, their apathy and willful ignorance. It hurts because we know and care so much about the consequences. Same with GW.
