ALL of that is afoot in America. Every bit of it.
The bedrock of our society has proved to be exceedingly fragile.
Trump is in the process of consolidating power, with the obvious goal of turning our country into a hard right dictatorship.
He wants to be Putin. Or perhaps King with his spawn ruling by birthright.
Look where we are today. We have a government that is feckless in the extreme, adoring of our own Dear Leader. Just today Orrin Fucking Hatch called Trump a great president. Imagine that. There are no longer any checks or balances. There is also our once respected judiciary now peopled by young right wing clowns.
We have nowhere to place hope apart from Mueller.
Tea leaves notwithstanding, I have grave doubts about our ability to take even one house of the congress. And if we do not, the nation will be - at least - in mortal danger, if not actually dead.
Even if were to take back both houses and the presidency by 2020, even we do a repeat of FDR's 100 days and mimic LBJ's Great Society, the amount of damage that needs to be undone will take far longer than what life I will have left. My concern is for my children, for everyone younger than me.
I've had a good life. I want at least that for EVERYONE. Yet, I fear it is all slipping away at an accelerating rate.
