I contacted Amazon recently to try to find out who manufactures these products that Amazon seems posed to promote heavily.
Quite a few here who try hard to avoid Koch Brothers or affiliate- produced, manufactered, or distributed products might be interested to know that the new line of products from Amazon labeled PRESTO are NOT associated with Koch, but manufactured directly by Amazon.
I'm not saying that is preferable to buying NON-KOCH alternatives (from Kimberly-Clark or Procter Gamble) like Charmin toilet paper, Cottonelle toilet paper, Scott toilet tissue, Bounty paper towels, Viva Paper towels, Scott paper towels, Hefty paper plates, bowls, and cups, Kleenex paper napkins etc. etc. from your local stores... Frankly, I think we need to support local sellers/physical stores, even if they are nationwide chains for a multitude of reasons, but
If you feel you must order products on line for home delivery, at least the Presto line is not putting $$ in Koch Brothers/RNC coffers.

(1,733 posts)Amazon has private labeling deals for many products. Here is a link to a wsj article that reports on it, including the presto products.
Amazon to Expand Private-Label OfferingsFrom Food to Diapers http://www.wsj.com/articles/amazon-to-expand-private-label-offeringsfrom-food-to-diapers-1463346316
My company serves the pulp and paper industry. Should be able to find out who has the current manufacturing contract. Will report what i find.
If you buy any, please send me the code printed inside of the cardboard core.

(102,357 posts)the response I got was 1). in writing and 2. from their corporate headquarters marketing department and stated there was no association in terms of manufacturing, marketing, distribution with Koch Brothers or ANY Koch Brothers-associated intermediary/affiliate.
Are they lying? Well, I find it hard to believe they would put out something OFFICIAL and in writing that they know could come back to bite them, if it were not true.
If you find out otherwise, I hope you will let me know, because I WILL forward the correspondence to WSJ or other media watchdogs.

COSTCO
If you have a Costco membership, you may be interested to know that many of their Kirkland Signature branded items are actually made by big brands and sold at deep discount.

(1 post)I toured the KC mill in Fullerton, CA a year or two ago and saw firsthand the Kirkland products rolling off the production line. Interestingly, they also make Walmart/Sams Club brand. We were told the specs for the two brands are quite different...Costco wants quality. Not sure whether this will change since theyve announced plans to close KC in Fullerton: https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2018/02/09/kimberly-clark-fullerton-plant-closing/

(102,357 posts)As for Amazon, one can write volumes on the issues with their controversial business practices especially vis-a-vis workers. And Bezo is a mixed bag on his political donations. That said, his hands-off ownership and support for the Washington Post is a definite positive in his column.
I'm totally grateful for WAPO.
