Senator Blumenthal sends this letter to Mike Pence yesterday: https://www.blumenthal.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/Pence%20letter.pdf and Flynn pleads guilty today. This doesn't seem to be a mere passing of ships in the night. From the letter:

Did Mr. Flynn at any time disclose that he had been offered $15 million to deliver Mr. Gillen to Turkey?

What role did Mr. Flynn play in discussions within the transition team related to possible extradition of Mr. Gillen to Turkey, either by legal means or by extraordinary rendition?

What role did Mr. Flynn play in advancing the IP3 "Marshall Plan" proposal described in the Washington Post article within the Trump transition team?

Did Mr. Flynn at any time disclose that he had previously been a consultant for IP3, a private company that had developed the proposal for a "Marshall Plan" for the Middle East, and stood to benefit from such a policy?

What role did Mr. Flynn play in discussions within the transition team or the Administration related to the prosecution by Preet Bharara of Reza Zarrab?

Who on the Trump transition team was aware of Mr. Flynn's relationship with the following entities:

The government of Russia
The government of Turkey
The government of China
IP3
ACU Strategic Partners

Pleading Flynn to a lesser charge is a similar strategy Mueller used with George Papadopoulos and PapaD gave up 4 other fish. This is huge news and means Flynn is givin' up boat loads!

Yep.
With ALL he had on Flynn and he lets him plead guilty to perjury. Very Very interesting. Just hope the next Boom happens quickly.

7. I think the letter and the plea are absolutely related

This is the vice tightening on the president and vice president. It's going to make them all the more squirrely. Knowing there was so much more hanging over Flynn and THIS is what he's pleading guilty to has have Pence and Trump heading to CVS for another package of Depends.
