Can we stop trying to understand the Trump voters

They are overall, ignorant people, who have ( many) strong racist tendency even-though they will say they are not racist,
this is the base of the republican party,
Trump is not a surprise to us here on DU or even to most of the country, but this deplorable minority was enough, in this quasi democracy to put a mentally and ethically challenged man in the white house, These same people put another unqualified man in the white house W Bush, who almost destroyed this countries himself,

My scorn is mostly to the Trump voters, not to Trump himself, I already knew he was an unfit as a failed business man who got where he was because of Daddy's help, who himself used gov't help to amass his own fortune. Trump was just a creation of them media, best Trump can say for himself was that he is a master self promoter

but these dangerous fools that walk among us, some who are in are families, they did this, by voting for a buffoon because they were angry, angry at what, the policies put in by Republicans for generations since Reagan? No! many were angry because there was a black man in white house who did a damn good job of cleaning up Jr. mess. And now there man for President claims Obama's success as his own,

sorry for my rant how to get that off my chest

I agree that they are lost. I do think that there is a root cause or two to how they behave NRaleighLiberal Dec 2017 #1

Fear - fear of people who know more than them, strive more than they do, people who look different, worship differently, speak differently, love differently - though I loathe them, I suspect many of them should be pitied because they must have such self loathing.

They also seem for the most part to need to be told what to do and how to think - that pesky authoritarian thing.

Imagine if we all lived our lives, had the viewpoints and beliefs, that they did? How horrendous that would be.

That doesn't work for the typical Democrat, it's not in our positive, hopeful nature. It just doesn't motivate us - although 'independents' seem to lean that way.

There are two types, the Rich ones and all the others.
The Rich ones want sociopaths and psychopaths who want to be free of regulations, taxes, and above all, responsibility, so they can live without any check on doing whatever they want. They want their little kingdoms on earth where they can own people to do their bidding and dispose of anyone else as they see fit.
They see Drumpf as a fellow traveler - as emotionally and morally removed from Society in general as they are, and know he would "have their backs" as long as he gets a cut.

As for the others - They're either angry or afraid. They believe that a social hierarchy is best for them, rather than the risk involved with taking responsibility for actual freedom of action and opportunity to live one's own life on an equal status with everyone else in a wider, interconnected world.
Like children, they crave certainty. They would actively avoid participating in society if there's no promise of reward at the end of that participation.
They want a small, comfortable world to live in where they're in the "respected" class - where they have privilege over those who are lesser, where there's no surprises, where they have access to whatever they want with maybe just a little bit of effort - and they get to see Jesus or Allah or whatever they believe in as promised to them by their betters when they die.

So, while I may understand them and have some pity on their fears, it is the same pity I would have for a small child's fears. Which means they've got to grow the f*** up and take responsibility for their actions or lack of actions if they want any respect. I don't appreciate the massive amount of "cleaning up" that needs to be done after supposedly grown people let their petty emotions lead run their "thinking".
