Unbelievable. Is he now back at house arrest?
Later: Manafort was ghostwriting an OP ed with a Ukranian and a Russian known by us Intel to have ties to Russian intelligence.

(115,836 posts)"ARE YOU KIDDING ME??" he ranted. The panel seems to be gobsmacked at the whole thing. As am I. Manafort fell out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down.
Manafort might end up sitting in a room with concrete walls, wearing an orange jumpsuit and flip-flops and eating cheese sandwiches off an aluminum tray while he waits for his trial.

Although I expected that the day they gave him his real bail he'd be out of the US within two hours.

(27,818 posts)Host (forget his name) described it as "truly a shake-your-head story".
The CNN reporter who gave the details opined: "This makes me wonder if Paul Manafort is - well, if he's rational."
Phillip Mudd now on: "What the heck is this guy thinking?!? I thought I'd seen everything - but you just can't make this stuff up."

(27,818 posts)... if did flee the country.
But what is so astounding here is that he broke the conditions of his house arrest by communicating with a Russian who is in the sights of the FBI - which means his house arrest might be revoked.
What was he thinking? If he had any hopes (or plans) of being spirited out of the country, he just made that impossible.

(12,448 posts)The allegation was disclosed Monday as the reason the special counsel was backing out of a deal on bail with Manaforts lawyers. The deal would have loosened the terms of house arrest for President Trumps former campaign manager.
Manafort wanted to be allowed to travel among a few states in return for agreeing to forfeit $11.6 million in property if he missed a court appearance.
The special counsels office, which is investigating whether anyone in Trumps orbit helped Russia interfere in last years presidential campaign, said Manafort helped draft the editorial in recent days, working with a Russian who has ties to that countrys intelligence services.

Clearly establishes Manafort as a bad-faith actor, serves as a solid point of additional leverage (no "can you prove it?" because hell yes), maybe turns over a few other rocks and exposes the crawly things under them, etc.
