If you are interested in a book on current Russian politics, read Red Notice

it's about the Magnitski murder and resultant ban on abortions that Trump peeps talk about.

Putin and his oligarchs (estimated to be 10,000 of them) are frightening thugs. What happened in this case is alarming. Might give it to my Trump voting relatives for Christmas. I don't see how you could support anyone who looks up to Putin after reading this book.

There are a many youtube videos including some made by the author Bill Browder in an attempt to get Russia to do something. It's a sad tale.

Here's a clip from AM Joy

Here's a short version of what happened:
(A little melodramatic but worth a listen)

Oh, and I highly recommend the book. I can't believe Trump and now his followers like Putin. I also wonder if Browder's testimony might have been what upset Senators after his testimony. It is a chilling tale.

I just realized his book was published in 2015. I can't remember why I bought it recently. After hearing about the "adoption" meeting with Trump JR. I read up on Magnitsky and maybe saw the book then. Anyway, "hey" and yes, he is an intergalactic hero. Thanks for the link.

(He also might be Trump's worst nightmare if more people spread the word on how evil Putin is.)

meeting-about-SANCTIONS story broke. Before that? Clueless.

As far as I can tell, the Magnitsky Act has got pukin pursuing Mr. Browder in a blind fury, since the Magnitsky Act has a whole lot to do with pukin's bank account...ALL the mobsters are riled up, HA HA FUCKERS, and though many of us are late to understanding the story about sanctions and the Magnitsky Act - well, I am grateful to finally have a tiny, small clue as to what's really going on here.

And also, piggy pukin, by stopping the Russian adoption program, just about literally killed helpless, special-needs children with his own two hands. So, you know - fuck this murdering mobster.

Mr. Browder was in Columbia. SC, a couple of days ago, and in Atlanta last night, in his continued effort to educate our vast populace as to the real sources of the continuing "WAR" we are fighting......GOOD!!, and I am so so grateful he is not reclusive and shy, but rather, will go anywhere at anytime to shed light on the reality of pukin and his associate oligarch/mobsters' filthy, foul designs on the world in general and the US in particular.

Sorry to over-write, my friend, and see, I have not even READ "Red Notice" bc all I do is cruise the 'net for latest breaking news that will let me know when this nightmare is OVER! - but I am so very glad YOU read it, because now you know better than most of us what the hell's going on, and now you can pass your new knowledge on to others in whatever manner you see fit!!

It won the 2017 National Book Award in nonfiction.

The Future Is History: How Totalitarianism Reclaimed Russia by Masha Gessen

Award-winning journalist Masha Gessen's understanding of the events and forces that have wracked Russia in recent times is unparalleled. In The Future Is History, Gessen follows the lives of four people born at what promised to be the dawn of democracy. Each of them came of age with unprecedented expectations, some as the children and grandchildren of the very architects of the new Russia, each with newfound aspirations of their own--as entrepreneurs, activists, thinkers, and writers, sexual and social beings.

Gessen charts their paths against the machinations of the regime that would crush them all, and against the war it waged on understanding itself, which ensured the unobstructed reemergence of the old Soviet order in the form of today's terrifying and seemingly unstoppable mafia state. Powerful and urgent, The Future Is History is a cautionary tale for our time and for all time.
