(31,828 posts)4. Excellent - here's a good article follow up
http://www.inboundlogistics.com/cms/article/top-10-us-container-ports/
Inbound Logistics - I've had it saved for a few years. Each of the top 10 has the following data:
TRADE DATA
TRADE PARTNERS
IMPORTS
EXPORTS
What gets REALLY interesting? Really a lot of food for though? By region- who the top trade partners are.
Two east coast ports:
These are Elizabeth/Newark/NYC countries of origin (not the ship's flag)
◾China/Hong Kong
◾India
◾Germany
◾Italy
◾Netherlands
◾United Kingdom
◾Brazil
◾France
◾South Korea
Savannah GA port Trading Partners:
China
South Korea
Japan
Germany
India
Italy
Turkey
Anyone who thinks that we are going to 'go it alone' is an idiot (I'm talking to you 45/140). The world is really really 'small'- it's downright tiny. And we are all very interdependent on each other.
We have so much focus from politicians re Asia and Southeast Asia - that we forget about the impact of old allies and trading partners who are just as dependent on us.
