How To End Harassment: Vote For Someone Without A Penis

Democrat Dana Nessel says she won’t show her penis in a professional setting — because she doesn’t have one.
By Amanda Terkel

Sexual harassment is pervasive. Prominent men in media, entertainment and politics have, in recent months, had to answer a rising tide of sexual misconduct allegations. And there’s talk about how to change the culture and implement new procedures to stop such behavior from taking place again.

But Dana Nessel, a Democrat running to be Michigan’s attorney general, has a simpler idea: Elect more women.

Nessel is out with a new online campaign ad making the case that these days, simply being a man is a minus.

“If the last few weeks have taught us anything, it’s that we need more women in positions of power, not less,” she says in the ad. “So when you’re choosing Michigan’s next attorney general, ask yourself this: Who can you trust most not to show you their penis in a professional setting? Is it the candidate who doesn’t have a penis? I’d say so.”

The ad flashes headlines about sex scandals involving male politicians ― and Nessel promises her name will never be there.

“I want to tell you what you can expect me not to do,” she adds. “I will not sexually harass my staff, and I won’t tolerate it in your workplace either. I won’t walk around in a half-open bathrobe, and I’ll continue to take all sex crimes seriously just like I did as a prosecutor.”

Nessel is best known for being the lawyer who got a court to strike down Michigan’s marriage equality ban a year before the U.S. Supreme Court weighed in.

Her ad is also meant to push back against any notion that the Michigan Democratic Party shouldn’t have an “all-female ticket” in 2018, referring to the fact that with Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) up for re-election, there’s a chance the party will have female nominees for the statewide offices of senator, governor, attorney general and secretary of state. The primary election is set for Aug. 7, 2018.

With the Republicans on a tear regarding democratic sexual harassment, how soon before democratic women (candidates or officeholders) are accused of being "predator lesbians".

You must appreciate that the Republicans have no shame and no limit.

Where that absolutely has to be our thought process. From catcalls to violent rape, it is so common that we must think it’s all men in certain situations in order to protect ourselves from “the men”.

Roy More might be walking the Senate halls soon. Surrounded by potential victims/targets.

I can think of no place it doesn’t apply. Women have been regularly assaulted in damn near every venue since the beginning.

I'm sure females are in a numeric minority in terms of number of incidents on this but I can't give them a completely free pass.

I base some of this on personal experience.

Here's a google of teacher sex offender images
https://www.google.ca/search?q=teachers+sex+offenders&rlz=1C2CHBD_en-GBCA754CA754&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiNy7ySg_PXAhVH0oMKHWRQAXwQsAQIQA&biw=1094&bih=478

Maybe unfairly, the women - especially the attractive ones, do seem to get more media attention.

But the point is: females are guilty of some of this activity.

There are women in the corporate environment who will use sex to get ahead. That is not harassment at the outset but it can be howled after the fact when the wrath of a scorned person is experienced ....

How about all the men who served time innocent of the rape they were convicted of

Just because someone doesn't have a penis doesn't mean it won't or cannot happen.

This does not excuse the Weinsteins, Bill Cosby's, etc vile pigs of this world. They deserve much worse than they've got to date. But let's be careful about swinging the pendulum too far the other way.

Barack Obama has a penis and like many American women, I would gladly vote for him or a significant number of people with a penis.

I would also gladly vote for Elizabeth Warren who is without a penis but not because she is without a penis. I support her for better reasons than whether she has a penis or not. Whether she has a penis or not has nothing to do with it.

To me, not voting for someone because they have a penis is not much different than not voting for them because of the color of their skin. It is clear cut discrimination on the basis of sex.

Sorry. I'm against discrimination whether the basis is race or sex.

Some of the problems we're having today, and have had for decades, is that people are recoiling - into discrimination when confronted with discrimination. As long as we permit that to happen, discrimination on the basis of sex, race or religion will never end.

Just because someone else got it wrong doesn't mean the rest of us have to get it wrong. No discrimination should mean no discrimination. Period.

I find electing nothing but male Presidents to be extreme. I find the relentless assault women are under to be extreme. I find giving estrogen the upper hand in elections to be common sense.

I think the majority of Americans today would feel that Hillary Clinton would be a better president than Donald Trump. And their reasoning might relate to a dick in terms of Trump being one rather than whether he has one or not. We're getting closer to the reality of a woman being president. If it were not for the Russians, we might have already had one.

If the potential of a person is as good as you and I think it can be, regardless of their sex, then we do not have to concern ourselves with what is between their legs. A woman becoming president on those merits is the way I want a woman to get into the oval office - because she is the best person for the job - not because men have dominated and it's time we gave a woman a chance.

Barack Obama is going down as a highly respected president - not because of the color of his skin but because of what he did and who he was regardless of the color of his skin.

If we focus on those qualities, great women will rise to that challenge. I'm sure of it. There are a bunch of good ones in the wings right now.
