No one gets appointed prior to a special election (unlike the Senate) and the people will decide. I could see voting for him and I could see not voting for him. Let him make his case. I would be amazed if the Democratic primary, the only election which likely matters in that district, isn't very crowded. A whole bunch of ambitious people will seeing their first chance to get in Congress since 1965 or 52 years. Trust me his son won't be unopposed.

He was excellent for a number of years on a number of issues.
Yes sexual harassment is serious and he should go.

No, the position should not automatically be given to his son. Big mistake even to endorse him.
