Former Colorado GOP chairman accused of voter fraud blames diabetic episode in Weld District Court

A former Colorado GOP chairman accused of committing voter fraud during the 2016 election filled out his ex-wife's ballot during a major diabetic episode, according to his attorney.

Steve Curtis, 57, who from 1997-99 served as chairman of the Colorado Republican Party, is charged with one count of voter-fraud and one count of forgery, after prosecutors say he filled out and mailed in the ballot of his ex-wife, Kelly Curtis, from his Firestone home in fall 2016. After a day of jury selection Monday, attorneys delivered their opening arguments in his trial about 11 a.m. this morning, during which Curtis' attorney, Christopher Gregory, told the jury Curtis had lived with type one diabetes for about 30 years, and was prone to serious diabetic episodes.

...she and Curtis separated in December 2015, and she later moved out to Charleston, S.C. where she tried to register to vote for the 2016 election. She had missed the deadline, though, and was told to call Colorado.
By the time she spoke to employees of the Weld County Clerk and Recorder's office, she said, Steve Curtis had already cast her vote.

Imagine a world in which millions upon millions of people were condemned to endure such an existence. What kind of a monstrous force would inflict that on people?
