to me (and this is only my own speculation) I think trump picked this to start a war over there. Nothing like a huge conflict, a common enemy to rally the public around a president whose poll numbers are in the tank. Plus what a great diversion it is for the news to lead each night with war reports instead of grand jury reports.

As an added bonus war always makes to the heavily donating industries and services to republicans richer.
Also it makes it that much more easier for the repukes to enact laws that are a violation of our civil liberties.

And the problem with all this it that about 40% is either too apathetic or too stupid to care.
