No way any of these Senators and other prominent Dems would say he should leave without knowing he's already gone.
So long, Al.

(15,317 posts)I'm just fed up. I will still vote, but all of the effort and money I've put in personally will stop. This was the last straw. They can't just keep shooting themselves in the foot like this. I feel like a fool that I've always defended them.

We are our own worst enemies. We need huge changes at the top, starting right now. Until that happens, I'm done with the whole bunch of them. They've lost their will to fight.

(102,304 posts)IF, IF, IF that were the case, we just lost one of the most valuable Senators we had fighting for us--almost totally based on anonymous accusations and, in the case of the identified USO accuser, a very despicable photo that only DEPICTS groping for the camera and not actual touching and what she describes as inappropriate kissing behavior in the context of "rehearsing" for a skit. Honestly, I fear our "best intentions" are being used against us in the ultimate manipulation. Had an ethics investigation gone through, IF, IF, IF there was any coordinated effort to target Franken beyond actual misdeeds, it might have come to light.
I am very very upset by this. We may well have been hoisted on our own "best intentions/zero tolerance/no distinctions" petard.

(102,304 posts)mistaken for a grope--an innocent accidental brush or knock. I'm not saying that is what is being reported, but these photo accusations would be ripe (pardon the pun) for such. How on earth could a truthful person remember EVERY single photo with strangers. The accusations I've seen are not as clear cut as you suggest and the anonymous ones are even less so.
I am female and as such, COULD technically be accused of sexual misbehavior, but less likely to be than a man. That said, I know what it is like to be targeted for untruthful accusations of a totally non-sexual nature and likewise to have my own words or deeds be misunderstood.
For those who can't imagine such a thing and never experienced it yourselves, I say you are very lucky.
Franken rightfully deserved a full investigation and potential dismissal if serious accusations were validated. But to short-circuit the system is a true miscarriage of what we are fighting for.

(53,794 posts)any Democrat whenever they want.
What a concept. They don't even have to use vote suppression anymore, just gin up anonymous accusers of any repug candidate's opponent and, voila, election won.
I would love to have just one of these oh so concerned Dems to get up and say: "We see what's happening here. We suspect that our colleague Senator Franken is being targeted.
And why are all these accusers of Senator Franken anonymous when Judge Moore's accusers have come forward, reluctantly but publicly, as have the accusers of President trump?
We want answers and we want an investigation of these allegations to go forward immediately. What happened to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty?"

(576 posts)I support an Ethics investigation sure to find the truth but but letting Frank go without some kind of justice depresses me as a Democrat.

(4,835 posts)Two possibilities here.
Bad news for Trump - and everybody wants the Franken issue off the table if they are going after the Prez for sex stuff. Some sex assault trial news for Trump recently, no?
Bad News for Franken - and everybody wants to get on the right side before it's too late!
Adding to the later thought - If you really want to get conspiratorial - Franken knew he was toast - and held off his announcement until it could be used as a timely distraction...like today.
