I guess he could resign and run against the person appointed to fill his seat next year. That might satisfy a lot of constituents, but it would be risky.

an ethics investigation finds him guilty of sexual harassment ( I THINK that would be the charge, but not really sure.)

Btw, a similar ethics investigation could and should be conducted against Moore, IF he wins.

It’s no more up to the voters in Alabama than it is to the voters in Minnesota. Not really.

They may or may not elect Moore. Voters may or may not re-elect Franken.

Once in Congress, you are supposed to be held to certain ethical standards. It’s why the Ethics Review Board exist.

Even if Moore gets elected, public perception is national, not local, and it would be unseemly and awkward for republicans not to allow a Ethics review of Moore once he is in the Senate, if elected.

His problems do not end on election night if he wins, it actually would require him to answer questions he probably doesn’t want to answer. He could likely be rejected by the Senate and Alabama would have to do it all over again ( likely with Strange back in the Senate again as Jones would have a harder time beating him).
If I had to guess that is their long term plan for dealing with Moore if he wins.

The odds of the R's not seating Moore are about zero if it a was crucial vote. They really hat Al because he's smarter than they are. I suspect they came up with the smear campaign, probably with Russian help to gibve them a bigger cushion in case they lose Alabama. I'm guessing some Democrats are willing to throw Al under the bus because the accusations make it harder not to seat Moore and the "scandal" looks bad for 2018. It's also not impssible that they were offred a bone by McConnell. You can never be too cyniical for politics. The game is all about power at any price. At the end of the day, it's Al's decision to resign or not . His fellow Dems can't force him.

Because this country sucks and the only voices heard are the elite rich and mouth breathing assholes. I am no longer a Democrat after the 20 senators coming out against Al Franken. If this piece of shit country was as great as advertised would have examined Trump and his thugs before he could make any moves affecting the country. Our garbage legislators are worried about passing laws easing up on gun toters instead of addressing real issues. Fuck this country and all of it's legislators who for the most part are out for their own gain. My state is represented by Joe Manchin who has been very silent because he don't want to offend the hillbilly idiots or the coal mine execs.

Because Dems are weak and scary and don't know how to pick their battles?

Or, because when thuglicans tell Dems how high to jump, most Dems say HOW HIGH?

Or, because Dems don't understand the concept of shades of gray?
