"126 other Democrats" vote to kill Trump impeachment resolution

WASHINGTON ― Fifty-eight House Democrats voted to advance the impeachment of President Donald Trump on Wednesday, in direct defiance of the pleas of House Democratic leaders earlier in the day.

A vote to table the impeachment resolution was agreed to 368-58, with four Democrats voting present and 126 other Democrats voting with Republicans to kill the resolution.

It may seem like this was an overwhelming confirmation of Trump ― and it was, in the sense that no Republican voted to advance impeachment and more than two-thirds of Democrats joined their GOP colleagues ― but 58 Democratic votes is still a significant statement on impeachment.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) issued a joint statement just before the vote urging their Democratic colleagues to reject the impeachment resolution. They presented the vote as a distraction from efforts to kill the Republican tax bill, which is swiftly making its way through Congress, and they cited the special counsel’s investigation of Trump, as well as inquiries from congressional committees, to plead with Democrats to hold off.

“Now is not the time,” Pelosi and Hoyer wrote.

Calling for impeachment when you don’t have the votes is a pointless exercise. Like all the times the House tried to repeal the ACA. A waste of time that will lessen the impact when we have the evidence.

I think they'd rather see him taken down by Mueller. If it appeared that he was clutching at straws and had nothing, it would be a different story. Every day his investigation becomes more intense.

I want every person who voted NO for impeachment on record, and then starting in 2018 and 2020, lower the BOOM!

Last Sunday during my nation wide phone call with Bernie, Cory Booker, Indivisible, MoveOn, etc they told us that the bill is NOT dead but that the MSM is working with the GOP to distract us. DO NOT LET THEM!!
Yes, there are important issues and ridiculous distractions but killing this Tax Scam is front and center. THIS IS OUR PRIORITY...pressure the GOP. They were hoping to slip it through and tried to lie and tell us it is all over and done with...WRONG! They know word has gotten out and only 28% of the US support this kindergarten-scribble bill that is a mess. They should be scared, GOOD! Kelp them running in circles. We have to get two senators (this is why they support a pedophile...they need his vote). The calls and protests are working. Keep it up and spread the word on social media. (202)224-3121. CA residents alone can flip the needed number of GOP congressmen. Here is a petition.
