PSA: If you live anywhere near the fires that are decimating California

please be aware that wild animals are fleeing the fires and they may show up in your yards. The Forestry Department is urging you to bring your domestic animals in at night and let the wild ones pass through. Please put out buckets of water for them - they are scared, exhausted, and have also lost their homes - they need to refuel.

Please put a large stick or pine cone in any water bucket you leave out to allow the little critters a safe way out if they fall in.

Please share freely.

"PLEASE Stop flying drones. Helicopters cannot do water drops if there are drones in the air. Word is two helicopters were turned back from Ojai because of a drone. Please share this information."

Deer were constantly stopping by to eat and drink with my sheep. We still had grass when everywhere else was dried up. I had to put my LSG shepard in the barn at night so she wouldn't chase them off. The sheep were a little nervous but it all worked out.

that situation long ago on SoCal, and you really make me wish we could put water out for those poor creatures from Georgia.

Long ago I looked out one night, during a fire in the mountains at least a mile of residential development away, and saw an exhausted coyote resting and still panting on our patio next to our fish pond. (Concrete shelters on the bottom for the fish since raccoons were regular visitors.)

Well, we can't, so thanks for posting for others.

Must have been exhausted because he (hopping a lot like a bunny himself) was able to finally grab the little thing, caught between road and traffic on one side and blasting heat from the flames on the other.
