what's the deal with gillibrand anyway?

this from 11/17/17

"Gillibrand remark on Clinton sends shockwaves through Democratic Party
The anti-sexual harassment crusader and potential 2020 candidate prompted an uncomfortable debate among Democrats about a beloved party figure.
~~snip~~
"A handful of aides to both Clintons declined to comment for this story, citing the political danger of weighing in on such a delicate matter between influential figures in the party. But Philippe Reines — a longtime aide to the former secretary of state — lashed out at Gillibrand on Twitter.

“Ken Starr spent $70 million on a consensual blowjob,” he wrote, referring to the investigation into Bill Clinton. “Senate voted to keep [President Clinton]. But not enough for you @SenGillibrand? Over 20 yrs you took the Clintons’ endorsements, money, and seat. Hypocrite. Interesting strategy for 2020 primaries. Best of luck.”

and now franken?

"Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand wrote on Facebook that while Franken is entitled to have the Ethics Committee conclude its review, "I believe it would be better for our country if he sent a clear message that any kind of mistreatment of women in our society isn't acceptable by stepping aside to let someone else serve."

that Bill Clinton's "indiscretions" with employees, reporters, and interns cost us TWO freakin' presidential elections.

We elected him the first time under that cloud - thinking it was that 'vast right wing conspiracy.'

Then we believed him when he said he didn't do it.

Then we stuck with him through impeachment and trial in the Senate.

I think Barack Obama is a much better role model of how a Democrat should behave.

I just don't see a reason to revisit the Clinton impeachment. The GOP made it partisan. Whatever Bill Clinton did or didn't do the GOP made it impossible not to defend him.

While I very much liked, admire, supported worked for and voted for Pres. Obama for both times he ran for the presidency, he was run over by thuglicans all too often, as he continually reached out his olive branch to them. In fact, he reached out his olive branch so often to thuglicans, that McTurtle broke Pres. Obama's wrist. McTurtle played the game and is undoubtedly tonight he's having a big bottle of what rotten, racist, evil turtles drink when they celebrate. While I believe that honesty is the best policy, sometimes you have to fight for survival.

Lastly, we've gone from an Administration in Pres. Obama with 0 crimes committed, to tRumputin's worst ever Administration where in one year there is a strong hint to put it mildly of collusion with a foreign entity. Money-laundering, treasonous actions, lies and ruskies hiding under EVERY rock associated to him/his family. And with him stacking the lower courts with RWNJ lifetime judges that will negatively affect our country for a generation and more, I get ill when I think of what he will do TO the Supreme court which is 5-4 leaning right currently. He'll move the courts to a solid 7-2 righty majority before too long. I don't see CON-gress impeaching him even if the evidence is overwhelming against him (And it's stacking up against him almost daily, hell hourly), because they need his signature to continue destroying this country.

I wished Dems knew how to pick and choose their battles. I wished Pres. Obama would have investigated Bush/Cheney for torture policies, but he didn't. He gave them immunity. And as I recall, most Dems weren't in an investigating mood unfortunately. I see that most aren't in an investigation mood where Al Franken is concerned either.

The same goes for Harris and all the other women Senators calling for his resignation before the ethics investigation.

Gillerbrand is in it for herself.

She ran as a hardline blue dog in 06', then made a sudden leftwards pivot when she ran for Senate.

Unfortunately for her it will come at the expense of any future aspirations. Believe that. Ditto for Harris and Seth Moulton and anyone else who laid down like lambs for the GOP slime machine today. It did not go unnoticed from what I’m seeing here and elsewhere.

Her comments seem to be coming from a very personal place.

I'm betting she had a supervisor or boss that behaved inappropriately toward her and perhaps something has been triggered.

Either way, this is not an example of the most rational decision-making. I am very disappointed in her.

Who needs friends like these?

She using the ME TOO platform for name recognition for 2020 run with Harris. She doesn’t seem to understand that ME TOO women don’t just automatically believe an accusation. We tend to look deeper into the whole picture. I found Tweeden’s facial and hand gestures unconvincing. Then I found out that women who used their names were trump voters, and the campaign aide fat squeeze is not even a ME TOO moment.

This has trump and sessions stink all over it

in the Senate. For years she has worked diligently for campus rape victims and military assault/rape victims.

How does that champion for all those women and men stand aside and say absolutely nothing when a Democratic Senator is caught up in a similar scandal?

She can’t without making all those other people feel betrayed. It’s like that rape victim who no longer felt comfortable with Franken being a co-sponsor on a bill inspired by her case.
