...both during his nomination hearings and at subsequent hearings, that lead to Sessions ultimately recusing himself and Robert Mueller being appointed to lead the investigation of the Russia-Trump connections.
Also, remember it was Roger Stone who back in February 2017 suggested that the Trump-Russia matter be investigated....by Jeff Sessions, of course.

Stone has called on the White House to order an immediate investigation through the Department of Justice over alleged improper links between members of the Trump inner circle and the Kremlin during the course of the 2016 presidential campaign. His request adds to a mounting chorus of demands from senior congressional members and outside advocacy groups for an official inquiry into the affair.
In an interview with the Guardian, Stone appealed to Trump, whom he has been close to for almost 40 years, to convene an inquiry through Jeff Sessions, the newly appointed US attorney general. The president should tell his attorney general that either he finds proof of this, or he puts it to bed and announces none of it happened.
(And when Sessions recused himself, Stone suggested that Trump fire Sessions.)
I really have to wonder if all of this wasn't precipitated by Roger Stone wanting to settling an old score for throwing cold water on what he wanted to be a whitewash of the Trump team's Russian connections.

(6,363 posts)...are we, as the dem base (along with our leadership), fair weather friends. I know politics is a game of fragile alliances but this is nuts.
At some point, you have to wonder who's going to be the person that wakes up to the next social media turbocharged anonymous claim and say "When they came after Al Franken, I was silent because I wasn't Al Franken..."
