stake
At least Al is staying until the end of the year, so he can still fight against the tax bill

(15,222 posts)We need to deal with issues straight on, and this issue isn't being dealt with.
Democrats are great at rolling over and giving up.

"get over it" implies that I said "give up", and that is false in every respect of what I meant.
In fact we should be fighting even harder, and call for Trump's and most likely Moore being the new Senator of from Alabama's, resignation, though it is also most certain that won't go very far with the republicans controlling Congress.
and the focus on 2018 is even more critical than it has ever been

(16,396 posts)There will be others. The GOP has seen how easy it is, they have found a new technique, and they will exploit it to the nth degree.

(10,024 posts)The GOP will have their time is the barrel, so be prepared.
Al Franken can continue to speak out and be an advocate and perhaps even a political pundit. He can still be very effective, perhaps even more effective than his one vote in the Senate (if his seat is held in Democratic control). He can make the talk show/media circuit and will now be allowed to be less diplomatic in his biting commentary.

(10,024 posts)He was a brilliant policy wonk then, and I do not think that has changed.
He said he will continue to speak out and I have no reason to doubt that.

(50,278 posts)because that's what the base wanted, but it seems there is a much larger number of people requesting an investigation first. Franken is being railroaded right out of office. If he's eventually vindicated - assuming there is an ethics investigation - he's pretty much screwed because they've put a label on him and pushed him out the door.

(92,219 posts)saying there is little that can be done about Franken now.
As for that ethics investigation, that isn't going to happen now.
Though those Democrats who demanded Franken resignation should be demanding Trump's resignation and Roy Moore's if he is elected in Alabama, which I assume he will be.
I am very concerned about Ryan's plans to cut the social safety net, and we damn well better have a strategy to halt that
Whether it appears it or not I am very upset with those Democrats who are forcing Franken out without due process, but I am also very concerned at losing focus on stopping the republican agenda
