Before the announcement, the local paper polled Franken's supporters, this is perfect:
Minneapolis businessman and political donor Vance Opperman is angry. "The so-called liberals are forming their usual circular firing squad and shooting each other. That's what I'm angry about," he said, stressing that Franken should not resign.
"We're in a constant threat to our democracy. Our institutions are under constant attack. We're being led by a buffoon," Opperman said. "We desperately need people in Congress and the Senate who are smart and intelligent and who won't be intimidated. Al Franken is one of those."

This would seem a uniquely bad time to be fragging our
own. Especially when the evidence is so weak.
I can only hope that Schumer, Pelosi, Gillibrand and the rest are playing some form of advanced, multidimensional Go.
My fear is that they are instead an easily panicked herd of bovines and are playing nothing but, Run away! Run away! (Monty Python and the Holy Grail)
Donald Trump Jr. is not the only one laughing right now. Im sure McConnell is wiping tears of laughter from his chinless face right now.

They have never shown any inclination of that ability.
