Have you checked your tires lately? Reason I ask

Have you checked your tires lately? Reason I ask is I just replaced mine. They desperately needed it.

I checked my records and the last time I had bought new tires was June 2013. So here it is 4 1/2 years and 39,000 miles later. I hadn't realized it. It just slipped up on me.

I couldn't believe the amount of tread on the new tires! LOL.

I'm pretty sure mine are the ones that came with my car, so not new. I should check them out.

as I don't drive VERY much, but he did, I trust him and have for years. Was about to take a 1000 mile trip, so I did it (and NOT terribly expensive.)

the tread be equal depth on all four of them or there could be damage to the differentials. If you replace just one tire, the shop will often shave the new tire down to the size of the others.

If front wheel drive, that wouldn't be a problem, but there could be other damage, uneven tread wear, or something else to make the tire unsafe.

(Or, he could just have been ripping you off.)

Definitely not ripping me off, have used him for 20+ years (tho now live 70 miles away.) He won't sell michelin tires which he sees as having an inherent defect. $400 for my 4 new tires.

.....but apparently my brakes were completely shot and needed replacement. (My car had 41,000 miles on it with original brakes, so I'm not completely surprised).

Still, I ended up shelling out over $300 for new brakes.

But on the bright side, my tires are fine! (And those aren't original, so I should probably have at least 10,000 more on the front tires and 20,000 more on the back.)
