and what he actually apologized for, have been the subject of discussion and debate on this forum for practically a fortnight.

Franken's speech today confirmed what a number of us thought he was actually saying and the reasoning behind it (I must have written a few thousand words on that very subject, and that's just me), though you appear to have gone out of your way to misrepresent it and cast the worst possible light on his reaction in every post about it of yours I've bothered to read.

2. The 8th accuser is said to be a "former Democratic Congressional Aide". That has no bearing on the veracity of her claim. In a sane world, it would be tested beyond trial by media.

If you're allowed to doubt Franken's character on the basis of anonymous testimony, others of us are allowed apply equal doubt to that anonymous testimony and its source until we have reason no longer to doubt it.

Your faith in the media and its standards would be quaintly touching if it wasn't so very, very convenient.
