The House Ethics Committee announced Thursday that it was opening an investigation into Rep. Blake Farenthold, nearly a week after revelations that the Texas Republican paid a sexual harassment settlement with taxpayers' money.

The committee will investigate whether Farenthold sexually harassed a former member of his staff. It will also examine whether Farenthold discriminated against the former staffer based on her gender – and retaliated against her for complaining about discrimination.

The investigation will also look into allegations that Farenthold made inappropriate statements to other members of his staff.

I found this yesterday......from dec. 4, 2017

THEY LIE ABOUT EVERYTING!

A Texas Congressman said Monday he would pay back the $84,000 in taxpayer money that was used to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit that was filed by a former employee.

“Even though I was completely exonerated by [the Office of Congressional Ethics] and the settlement agreement has been paid, I am doing my best and am going to hand a check over this week to, probably Speaker Ryan or somebody, and say, look, here is the amount of my settlement. Give it back to the taxpayers,” Farenthold said in an interview with KRIS-TV.

In 2014, Rep. Blake Farenthold’s former communications director Lauren Greene sued alleging she’d been sexually harassed by the Congressman while working in his office. On Friday, Politico reported that Farenthold’s office used taxpayer money to pay off an $84,000 settlement that was reached in that case.

Reached for comment on Friday, neither Farenthold’s office nor an attorney for Greene confirmed nor denied that the report.

And Al Franken doesn't. Wow! I say we are now two Americas. One, the Democratic America, believes for the most part, in the Constitution, the rule of law, and doing what is right for all of the people.

The other America, the Republican America, they believe in:
authoritarianism, fascism, corruption, black lives don't matter, women back in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant, gays back in the closet, Jews converting to Christianity, do what I say don't do as I do, ruling over governing, fake news, white power, destroying the environment, guns, their interpretation of the bible, money, power, division, hate, bigotry, uneducated rubes (easier to manipulate), forced birth, the rich, the really rich, the super rich, there are good nazis, Mexicans are rapists, Muslims are terrorists, those people are taking your jobs, there is no such thing as global warming, tax cuts for the rich, lying, cheating, scamming, silencers for guns, bump stocks, 100 round magazines, election rigging, vote tampering, corporations are people, guns for the mentally ill, guns for everyone on demand, concealed carry for everyone, controlling others, pedophilia, no paper trail for counting votes, doing anything to win, there should be cuts to food stamps, cuts to Medicare, cuts to social security, cuts to veterans benefits, no minimum wage and or cuts to the minimum wage, drug tests for benefits, arrests for marijuana use and possession, no regulations on corporations, getting rid of public lands for the use of the wealthy corporations to drill for oil and use for other profit making schemes, colluding with the Russians, undermining Americas intelligence agencies, destabilizing the Middle East, revealing classified information to our enemies, we are right you are wrong, propaganda, ratfucking, insulting allies, nuclear war, getting rid of investigative journalism, getting rid of the mainstream media, nationalism, jailing Hillary Clinton, getting rid of the 800,000 DACA recipients, using ICE to terrorize undocumented Americans, polluting the air and water, nepotism, you should be forced to stand for the national anthem, emergency rooms should turn away the poor and those without insurance, kill the ACA, higher taxes for the poor and middle class, arresting demonstrators, creating the fake (black identity extremist) category to try and curtail black lives matter. I know there's more, but i believe America is now at least two Americas with people in the majority becoming more troublesome for the ruling class of corporations and Republicans. I didn't believe it could happen here, but here we are. Sorry, but that was just so cathartic.
Thank you Malaise for letting me get this out in your post,
Lou
