When will the victims of gun violence get their "metoo" moment?

If there ever was an issue begging for attention in this country, its gun violence. Next week it will be 5 years since the massacre of children in Connecticut, and nothing has been done to make guns harder to get. There were 2 high school students killed in a shooting in New Mexico today, and it barely made headlines. 2017 has been a deadly year, and yet the country seems more complacent than ever.

Have for most of my life.

I posted here on DU while 600 people were shot, the updates from friends and family on the scene. Been to the funerals. Been to the finite all of someone who shot themself after the massacre because they thought life was hopeless.

Sometimes I think she was right (not about suicide, but about odds of success). I can walk two hundred yards and buy a bump stock retail.

I’m fucking seething about gun violence, but almost none of our representatives are willing to even TALK about it. Cowards, the lot.
