Over Franken but I'm not. He was awesome not doubt, but if you are going to abandon the party over this then you don't have your priorities straight at all. Franken is not the Democratic party, even he would say that, and every once in a while you have to take one for the team. No one made him do that, he choose that. Just another reason why he is awesome. So, pull yourself together if you are that upset and do what he would want you to do. Be a proud Democrat. Dammit.

How can we trust the Democrats to stand up for us if they won't stand up for each other?

(17,984 posts)Except the Dem Party is only represented by a single figure. Needs to be at least 30 figures.

(9,527 posts)Here's another: Franken threw himself under the bus by apparently not understanding how to keep his hands to himself. He apologized for unspecified wrong doing and claimed he didn't remember. That's basically the same approach Kevin Spacey took. Nobody bought that from Kevin Spacey especially as more and more accusers came forward.
Also to answer your question with one of my own, how could women trust the Democrats to stand up for them if instead of dealing with sexual harassment/assault in our midst, we papered over it for practicality's sake?

(11,119 posts)Dems need to fight republicans and Russians and Trump TODAY to regain power and bring some semblance of common sense in governing this country!
By throwing Franken under the bus, Dems have one less strong voice working to that end - Franken could've kept Sessions on the ropes!
POINT BLANK: Eliminating sexual harrassment could wait til Dems get MORE power! Instead, Dems have silenced a powerful voice in Franken, have let Sessions off the hook and have shown themselves to be simple-minded do-gooder SUCKERS! AGAIN!

(6,044 posts)representative democracy do something controversial surely they should anticipate that controversy will ensue and factor that into their plans.
I think very few voters will abandon the party over this, but I think the senators involved have loosened the bond of trust between themselves and democratic voters by appearing to have abandoned the democratic principle of due process.

(819 posts)Its calling out individuals who threw a great senator under the bus for their own political gain. If they will sell out their own to advance their careers, do you still expect us to support them? Why?
