After serious consideration, we regret to inform you that America cannot accept your resignation at this time. Regardless of what your senate colleagues may consider logical or expedient, there is much work to be done for which you have proven yourself to be uniquely suited. Although we are mindful of the flaws that have come to light in your past behavior, you are directed to continue your work for the duration of your term, at which time the people of your state will decide whether your tenure in office is to be extended.
Sincerely,
U.S.A.

(40 posts)We need You! Please reconsider! I am heartsick that you resigned while we have a pedophile running for a Senate seat and a serial pervert in the oval office.

(9,893 posts)Elected officials, short of a criminal conviction or serious personal issue, should not be resigning. They were elected. They should be doing what they elected to do until they decide not to run for office or the voters vote them out. If I were a Franken constituent Id be mighty pissed.
