So in all the stories about trump voters

There is a constant theme. They are tired of being lectured to by the elites in Washington. So what does our party do. Runs out and plays holier than thou.

Not a winning strategy IMHO.

Much better to actually fight for fairness and equality not by using shame but by leading with actual remedies. What our leadership did yesterday was not principled leadership it was abandoning the rule of law in favor of a show of righteousness.

My party is supposedly about integrity yet when presented with true integrity they stomped all over it. We supposedly want to take women's concerns seriously but when given the opportunity to hear them they took it away instead. Not only does Al not get his day in court but the women who came forward will never get their side heard either.

That is justice?

If that is what we are fighting for count me out.

God knows we have criminals running the show at the moment but if our answer is false piety we will never regain power.

This was an opportunity to stand up for women by showing that we can ask the hard questions even of our own. What we got instead was an attempt to duck it by shoving it under the rug with a ton of back slapping.

Maybe the calculation is that if Al when before the committee and was found to have done nothing wrong it would provide cover for Trump. Maybe they thought people would point to Al and say see it was all just bullshit politics and Trump is the same.

Maybe if it went to the ethics committee it would have found he had a pattern of abuse. We will never know now.

In either event what was done yesterday did not protect anyone it made the situation so much worse.

Now there are reports of 40 congress people about to be exposed. Some of them will be predators and some wont. We seem to have now backed ourselves into a corner where all that matters is the numbers of accusations not the veracity of them.

I wan't to fight these criminals currently occupying the white house. I want the democrats to help in that fight but if that means we throw out our sense of justice to do it it seems like a Hobsnon's choice today.

Yesterday they kicked a man out of our party that has been fighting loudly and strongly for us for two decades in congress and out. Decades of hard and effective work destroyed because they were afraid to stand up and let the chips fall where they may.

It has left me questioning my own decades of working to get democrats elected and from reading here and many other places seems to have done the same to thousands of others.

All this so we could hold ourselves up as better. Which if the trump voters are to be believed is exactly what got us here in the first place.

It's not what you say it's what you do.

What they did yesterday was despicable and removes any claim to supposedly stand for justice.

Time heals all wounds supposedly I hope it hurries up because today for me there is a huge gaping wound.

The laws which get passed or don’t get passed are more important than Al Franken.

Most Dem Senators think more Dems will be elected if Franken leaves than if he stays. That is a political judgment. Dem Senators are professionals in politics with lots of experience and with experienced advisors. They may be right or they may be wrong but they should do their best to win elections because that determines which laws get passed and which don’t. The lives of millions of people, maybe even billions of people, depend on them getting that right. The lives of millions or billions matter more than the life of one person named Franken.

Politicians must do many things which are creepy in order to achieve a higher goal. In World War Two the allies sank a ferry in Norway with many innocent men women and children on it because it had a cargo of heavy water which could be used to build a nazi atomic bomb. Sometimes doing horrible things is the right thing to do.

Maybe Dem Senators are mistaken on the politics. But we need to understand that they should do what they honestly think is the better path to getting the right laws passed.

We have been losing seats for years while many of those experienced Congress people continue.

You will have to excuse me if I think it is time to jettison the experienced legislators who have proven time and again an uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

One has to accept the idea that removing franken advances the cause to accept the idea they are protecting anyone. I see it quite the opposite I see it as an attempted to claim the moral high ground at the expense of Justice.

A naked attempt to try to climb on board a movement with no thoughts of the consequences of their actions.

How can it be seen as legitimate to make decisions with no consideration of the facts . They ran with the outrage instead of looking at the circumstances. They completely ignored the testimony of mutiple women who stood up for franken and ignored his body of work because they didn't want to be painted with the what about brush.

I hear what you are saying but I find their experience lacking.
