First Read: The 2018 cycle started out with a terrible map for Democrats, with them having to defend 25 Senate seats, including a whopping 10 in states that President Trump won in 2016. But on Tuesday, well find out if their path to a majority becomes much more realistic.
If Jones wins, pickups in Arizona and Nevada plus Democrats successfully defending all of their seats would give them control of the Senate. Thats far from easy. But it looks more doable than it did a year ago.

(13,305 posts)Or are they pulling their usual routine of shrugged shoulders and saying that it's not worth it to spend money unless we're already predicted and polled to win by a 90% margin.
Wouldn't want any of those highly paid, highly "skilled" consultants to actually have to work for their money would we?

(13,305 posts)...the number of races that they just seem to give up on in the name of saving money or keeping their powder dry or whatever else is depressing. This should not have been one of those. It's about more than just a D or R senate seat for this one. It's about right and wrong.

(60,010 posts)That may or may not have been a story put our by the NRC.
I do know that 2 out of state groups are spending big money to defeat Moore, they claim they are NOT affiliated with Jones.

(13,305 posts)As long as some groups are working. I'd like to think the national party would see this as a worthwhile place and race to spend money on, but they don't always have the best judgment as far as that goes.
