Conservative Columnist David Brooks: The GOP is rotting.

Conservative David Brooks did not pull any punches as he excoriated the Republican Party as they continue their rot. Brooks' scathing piece titled "The G.O.P. Is Rotting," is a must-read.

Brooks points out that Donald Trump has asked the Republican Party to bend in his image and unfortunately much of the party obliged.

1. And yet they keep winning. We are becoming a failed state, that's why.

A man who says the rich should get tax cuts because everyone else spends money on booze, women, or movies shouldn't be in the Senate... yet there he is.

It's not the GOP that's rotting, it's the whole state. They are just the maggots on the rot and really any talk to 'reform' the GOP, make it better, will just end up making a better maggot. Don't look for electoral politics to solve your problems, find solutions outside of them, don't stop being political, but there is a hard truth we must face.

The government is just so disappointing, the people who are OK with this are just so disappointing, and the people who say in 2018 that we might get a chance to fix this... maybe if we fill out all the appropriate paperwork and make a second attempt to politically overpower all the people who think doing meth is better than having a black man be your boss (But don't you dare call them racist!), that all the liberals should be executed, and that there is a Martian conspiracy to run a sex ring in a pizzeria and to stage Sandy Hook and the Moon landing aren't any less disappointing, I'm sorry.

2. Brooks can go to Hell..

He's the king of the "but what about" and "both sides journalism infecting the mainstream press and media that led us to this point.

The GOP has been rotting for decades and he was happy to ignore it and enable it.
