Democrats saw Franken as a liability The Hill

Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) had been resisting behind-the-scenes pressure from fellow Senate Democrats to step down for some time before his resignation on Thursday.

Sources familiar with deliberations within the caucus said women Democratic senators pressed their leadership to resolve the Franken situation and the leaders relayed their concerns to him.

"There were conversations by a number of senators who were concerned about the allegations and believed the women," said one Democratic senator.

It's odd that starting a new Cold War is easier for them than attacking Republicans head on.

7. Trump is a "liability". Where are the Dems calling him to resign?

Well, Bernie sort of called for tRumputin to go.

I think Jeff Merkley asked for tRump to resign too. Bet that goes on for only a day or so.

what their "MoneyMasters" want told. Never forget it what it takes to win a seat at the table.
"Candidates who won a seat in Congress’ upper chamber each raised an average of $10,476,451. That’s $14,351 per day."

4. If they're not running on Single Payer (etc) he was a liability

If the big plan is more centrism and corporation-pleasing, no bold legislation for single payer, or huge minimum wage increase, etc - all they'll have is the standard "but look, we're not like the Republicans"

Regardless of how horrid this whole thing has been, how unfair it is to Franken or the alleged victims, the WORST signalling I'm seeing is that the party isn't going to go left

Big mistake

Sexual harassment is a serious issue. But at least have an ethics committee conduct an investigation. I think that would have been reasonable.

I also think that the Democratic Senators are naive to think that Franken's resignation will win points with voters. It certainly won't win over Republicans and swing voters usually care more about other issues. The big fear might have been whether liberals and feminists would react badly but I cannot see that happening. Would feminists really stop voting Democratic due to the accusations against Franken? At least the Democrats were taking the accusations seriously enough to contemplate an ethics committee which is way more than Republicans have done regarding the accusations against Trump.

I just don't see the reasoning behind their decision to throw Franken under the bus.

people on this board within just hours had already found information that hinted this was a Roger Stone production. And now here even today not even one fucking democrat shows the slightest inclination to expose this for what it was? Fuck them all.
